Dalian Gets 100 Chery A5 Hybrid Cabs
Dalian is a very nice city in the North East of China. CCT used to live there when he was a wee-nipper, and I guess that the Dalian City Government really want to keep it China’s most hospitable city
Dalian will soon be getting 100 Chery A5 BSG Hybrid taxi cabs which will be in service before the end of the year. Chery has also delivered 150 A5 BSG model taxi’s to the Wuhu City Government for use as taxi cabs, where as BYD have only received 30 orders from their local Shenzhen city government but on the other hand they will have ‘green’ bus orders totalling 1000 units very soon.
The Chery A5 BSG Hybrid is priced at an impressive 74,800RMB or just over 10,000USD, which in China is half the price of a Toyota Prius, Honda Civic Hybrid and even the BYD F3DM.

Dalian used to be a nice city. I was there again last week and it has become overcrowded, with huge constructions popping up everywhere on the once so charming eastern coastline, and in the center the voluntarily degraded colonial houses (resembling slops) are making way for big ugly buildings. Weekdays and weekends, the city is suffering under traffic jams. People drive like nuts there as well. They’d better stimulate the use of public transport and 2WV, instead of 4WV.
Last time I went was May…. last year! I thought it was a nice mixture of ultra modern, and colonial style, but with anything regarding architecture in China it probably will have changed a great deal now.
I was 17 years old and in Dalian by myself, probably one of the greatest times of my life!
good news for chery. government should be the pioneer in push for more clean tech car on the road.
