Buick GL8 aka the Buick Business Concept out testing

29 July 2009 3 Comments

new-buick-gl8-mpv3The next generation Buick GL8 MPV was spotted out testing earlier today, and keeps much of the concept design from the Shanghai 2009 Auto Show Buick Business Concept. The car, or MPV itself is much like the current Buick GL8 MPV but with curvier sides:

The new Buick GL8 is not expected to launch until 2011, so it comes as a surprise to see the new out testing so early. GM already have plans for a new MPV and Crossover based on the new Lamda platform, although it seems like the vast majority of markets have abandoned the traditional MPV and have gone for various crossover models in recent years.

The new V6 is expected to make full use of V6 engines, ranging from 2.5l V6 to 3.0l V6. The top end Buick GL8 is expected to use the 3.0l SIDI V6 engine, which was developed by Opel in Germany, this engine will probably be mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox.
