Chang’an to enter premium segment with own cars?
Chang’an recently launched their own mini sedan which has sold quite well to date, as well as their new upcoming 2010 Ben Ben, Chang’an also have plans to enter the premium segment that has long been controlled by the likes of Mercedes, BMW, and Audi in the Chinese market.
The cars shown above are variations of the Chang’an CD101 concept that Chang’an showed at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year. No actual production date has been set, nor is there any information on what engines or size the end car might actually be. Could it possibly ride on the Ford Mondeo platform that Ford produce in conjunction with Chang’an? At the Shanghai Auto Show, Chang’an did display 1.0TGDI、1.5TGDI、0.8TGDI and 1.8L engines, but perhaps these are too small for the above motors.

wow – this really shows how far the chinese have come with their designs! this sort of car is on par with bmw and audi!
are changan actually making cars? seems like they are just waiting for a larger local player to soak them up
The Chinese shouldn’t fear any automaker since they do have the intelligence and drive to challenge any luxury car company.
Intelligence and drive and not the real problem. Do they have the ABILITY to be able to compete with the pure luxury makes yet?…. It will happen but needs time.
I always thought of producing a luxury product as being a mindset, once that mindset is learned then they will move into the premium segment with ease. They have to make a product desirable enough to warrant a high price tag, and good enough quality to be on par or better than existing mid level luxury cars.
True, plus the Chinese mindset for luxury will be different to a “westerners” as well.
Looks like they are experimenting with various design directions. Why not launch an online polling website to see which one gets the highest vote? hehe Anyway I like picture 6′s idea of the rear.
wow, these designs are REALLY GOOD!
Yeah, the designs are really good.
Look at the engine specs.
You think the designs are real? No, they’re trying to draw investor dollars. Engine specs/tech for a 0.8 to drive one of those boats, I think not, unless you like a 20+ second 0-100.
