Geely launches first ‘Di Hao’ sedan
Geely launched their first EC718 Di Hao sedan earlier this week in Jinan city, Shandong.
The EC718 is the first car from Geely since their change of strategy plan that has certainly taken them up a notch in the domestic Chinese automarket game. The EC718 was designed and engineered in house by Geely, and comes with a 1.8l home grown engine from Geely. Geely currently doesn’t offer an automatic gearbox with the awkwardly named EC718, but with their recent purchase of DSI International their should be an auto in the works.
On the power front, the 1.8L engine is a CVVT engine from GETEC (Geely’s engine arm) and is codenamed GETEC JLY-4G18 and is suited to both automatic and manual gearboxes. The engine was produced in cooperation with a European engineering company which managed to improve torque at low and mid speeds, and improved fuel efficiency by 5%. Total power is 172Nm at 4200rpm, whilst fuel economy is quite low at 6.5l per 100km.
The EC718 is Geely’s first ‘Global Car’ hence the badge on the front, and will see sales all around the world over the coming years. One of the first international markets to get the EC718 is expected to be Australia and also South East Asia.
The EC718 will be priced from 82,800rmb to 111,800rmb.

cheap bastard went to Korea to help with their design? I guess japan, italy, america, and germany are not that good to design and copy a Toyota corolla reject.
shut the hell up, you are just jealous. Koreans have good designs, dumbass.
No interior photos? Now that is what you get when u combine a Hyundai Sonata & Honda City, you get EC718′s front end.
Who gets credit for the dies (molds) for this new model? Is it Fuji Heavy Industries or Magna Steyr?
It’s funny, as most of the negative comments about Geely now were the same ones I remember were made about Honda and Toyota when they came to the US. History can repeat. Go Geely!!!!!!!!!!!
well at least that is a nice starting point of designing your own product instead of copying designs of other manufacturer like they have done in the past.
