Ford China Sales Surge 111% in August

Not only GM are doing big business in China, it seems Ford can rake the customers in as well. It’s a real shame that the third member of ‘The Big Three’ cant even get a third of these sales in China.

Although when Ford are producing cars like the Fiesta and the Mondeo, its no surprise they have sales like these:

From a Ford press release:

CHONGQING, September 2, 2009 – Changan Ford Sales Company today reported record August sales in China for Ford brand vehicles totalling 21,127 units, a 111 percent increase over the same period last year. The strong August performance follows a record July, marking seven straight months of year-over-year growth for Changan Ford.”We’re pleased to see the continued momentum and exceptional growth carry through into a record August, which is traditionally a low season for China’s auto market,” said Nigel Harris, general manager of Changan Ford. “The continuing sales success of Changan Ford is a credit to the great Ford products that Chinese customers want and value.”The all-new Ford Fiesta achieved its best monthly performance with record sales of 4,539 units, continuing its exceptional sales momentum since being launched just six months ago in March.Consistently a top seller in the mid-size car segment, Ford Focus sales rose 58 percent to 12,269 units, representing the best monthly sales performance for Focus since January 2008. Changan Ford recently celebrated the production of the 400,000th Focus at its Chongqing production facility. Both Ford Mondeo and Ford S-MAX continued to beat company forecasts and delivered strong monthly results, increasing 89 and 88 percent, respectively, over the same period last year. Through the first eight months of this year, Changan Ford has delivered total sales of 144,601 units, a 30 percent increase over the same period last year.
