As stupid as it seems, you’re dead right about Chery advertising their car as a fast one around the Nurburgring. They’re obviously gonna use the lie as a marketing strategy to bring in more customers for their company. I know this because, being half Chinese, the objective is to get the task done and done with a good result. I completely agree with you. Chery should play with their stock cars a little more. It’s already obvious that they’re not coming to America any time soon, so we really shouldn’t be worried. But it was obviously a stupid decision to come forth with a ‘stock’ car.

Were there any modifications to the drivetrain? If not, I would consider this an impressive result, other modifications notwithstanding. You can see that it is outpowered by the other cars on the list.

For a publicity stunt. Auto companies put their prototypes on the ring for testing and tuning purpose of their production models.

What Chery did on this stripped down G5 had nothing to do with Chery’s production models in sitting in the dealership.

It doesn’t seem that amazing. Turn any car over to a good tuner and they will get that kind of performance out of it. Not difficlt to start changing the stock parts to make a car drive great. It doesn’t mean the Riich G5 will be a nice driving car at all.

wow! This is a great result!! WAY TO GO CHERY!! You people need to realize Chery doesn’t have the decades and decades of experience other automakers do. And the G5 isn’t a sports/performance vehicle, so to be able to get this result is simply amazing.

a completely stripped car with upgraded brakes, tires, and a rollcage is nowhere near a stock car.

I bet Chery is going to advertise it like it was done by the real car, making such a big deal about it and not showing the real facts.

I don’t get why is CCT making so much fuzz about this…

hasn’t it occured that, if all the tested vehicles were stripped and upgraded, the Riich G5 would fall down this rank pretty roughly…??

Best to remember that as already stated all the cars in the list its up against are stock cars, complete with there full interiors and own luxury features, not stripped out and Lotus tuned machines. Though the Renault is probably the closest in terms of actual performance when it went around the track, since it is the only other fwd saloon car in that list.

Also remember this wasn’t a stock Riich G5 and almost any car could be modded to get their time up there with enough money. The second everything is stripped out for a roll cage you are talking a different car. I believe the other cars listed were run stock other than tires.
