Got eight million RMB spare? Get yourself a state limosuine

23 October 2009 17 Comments

The producers of the Hong Qi state limousine that Chairman Hu used at the 2009 review of the troops is set to be produced in limited numbers for civilian use, however the price is not for the common proletariat with the price tag a staggering 8 million RMB (1.17 million USD).

As you can see from above, the interior of the HQE state limosuine is under going some civilian restructuring, however the V12 monster engine that was designed by FAW will be the same as the Chairman’s. The V12 engine, the CA12GV model has its cylinders at a 60° which helps it boost out 300Kw of power and a maximum torque of 550Nm, it is also the worlds first car to use twin ECU’s according to Chinese media reports. Apparently the sound proofing on the inside of the car is second to none, with it being practically sound proof, outside noise is unable to penetrate the cabin.

The price tag maybe high, but FAW are bound to sell quite a few of these. More news as we get it.

Is it just me or does it totally *not* seem remotely close to the caliber of, say…european vehicles with half the price tag.

You’d be mental to buy one. Why not buy a Rolls or a Bentley? Hell even a Maybach would be better….. actually I’d even rather have one of those superb Jaguar XJ’s…

HQ isn’t just a luxury car, but also a symbol of power. It has always been and always will be. Aaaaaaand it’s a national luxury brand.

I don’t think European cars are that awesome. Daimler cars break often enough after putting all their money into Chrysler instead of quality control. BMW are the ugliest cars ever, also called “slut wagons” in Germany. Audi cars all look the same, kind of boring and Rolls/Bentley are just copies of each other.

Chinese people must be really stupid to finance the Europeans by purchasing their overpriced junk, only to receive scorn and insult in return. They should buy more of their own products, otherwise they will end up just like the Americans…

Wealth and Power. Isn’t it better to have a car that lasts a few years if you are spending 8 million? Name one Chinese cars that will still drive well and not be falling apart after the first 5 years.

99.99% of the Chinese made cars on the road in China are more than 5 years old. They are doing fine. The reliability issue of Chinese products are distorted by the western media. This is just a form of covert racism. The majority of the products I use are made in China. All of them have been working great for years. Just go down to your local electronics store, there will be nothing left in the store if you take all the “made in China” products off the shelf. People generally will hear about bad publicity when something goes wrong. Just due to the huge volume of the products coming out of China, you will no doubt hear more complaints based on absolute number. Based on Japanese governmental quality control monitoring agency, the reliability of Chinese products exported into Japan is no worse than the products produced in Japan.

I have ridden in many Chinese made cars over 5 years old. The suspension is shot in every one of them. The engines run bad and most of the things in them are broken. I am talking Chinese brand cars not a foreign car made in China.

I am not talking electronics. I agree with you but every Chinese made car I have been in has had obvious quality issues. I think it is to be expected on many of the cars and mos of the cars at sub 100,000 price point. They have to be trying to save money everywhere they can to keep the cars price low.

and when the hell was that??! cuz in the past 2 years or so, Chinese cars had made major improvements in almost all areas, improvements that takes other auto makers much longer to achieve.

What do you mean. Stitching in seats coming out. Metal sticking out of seats. Glove box latch that doesn’t line up to hold it closed. This was a 6 month old sedan from brilliance. My friends Geeley beauty leopard is totally falling apart. Itis 4 years old. The Great Wall Cool bear feels like it has no suspension and you can’t even play a CD becase it skips every bump. Very few have a decent transmission. I know the Chery ones are really sloppy feeling and dont shift well. I have driven two Geeleys and both felt like I was driving an old truck the way the clutch and transmission shifted. Very difficult to drive. I have never driven cars that shifted so badly and felt so bad to drive. Even cars that were over 20 years old in the US didn’t drive that bad. I am sure there have been huge improvements. I am just saying there is still a long ways to go. It really is going to be more than 10 years before a Chinese brand can make a dent in the US market. It would be foolish to think it will be any sooner. On the other hand a foreign brand made in China could make progress in the US just because they won’t be fighting the image of a cheap car from China as much.

It was this summer. Huge improvements I totally agree. But more huge improvements needed.

Answer my question. Cuz a 4 year old Geely is not the best in anything, but in the past 2 years, they’ve made SUCH tremendous improvements. And it’s impossible that a 6 months old Brilliance would have problems like the ones you’ve said. There are hundreds of thousands of people in CHina who own a Brilliance sedan, and NOBODY has had metal sticking out, or their seats damaged.

China does not export cars to Japan and western media do not care so much about chinese cars nor follow chinese people the western media since Chinese are very proud on their country. At the end the reality is the criteria for the truth.

I have to say that its one of the ugliest interiors I’ve seen on a luxury car in a while. Its not vulgar, it just looks cheep, I suppose its the beige and mid-grey plastic combo. The exterior is distinctive, I’d say horrible but then people buy BMW’s so obviously that appeals to some people. It will get some buyers of course, patriotism will shift cars no matter how bad they are (us Brits bought Alegros and Marinas after all, and the Yanks bought Hummers.) Ultimately however it’s not going to give the worlds luxury car makers sleepless nights, but then neither did Luxury Toyotas before Lexus was stamped on them.

Of course it is 8 million, HQ has to recoup all “R&D cost” from the one single car they still have to sell (I am not going into the copy discussion here).

Yes many products come from China, but this does not appear to be high quality / high craftsmanship but rather high volume, often low tech and low-medium quality.

It takes a craftsman do proper leather seats or dashboards, and it takes experience and costs time to develop craftsman. China has grown a lot in the past 10 years, but it really is just 10 years. 10 years ago, all car production was assembly (with foreign JVs) or local production and these local products are not on the road anymore (aside from some blue trucks).

Yes China has accomplished a lot but it is not yet at the end of its journey. There probably are people that would buy one HQ, these are probably not the people that have really worked for their money or know the true value of things.

8,000,000 be real! Buy 240 QQs, will have you longer on the road for sure, and I am sure they throw in some red carpets when you order ;)
