Chery F11 - Chery goes more premium

Chery obviously don’t have enough on their plate with their automotive brands which currently consist of Chery, Karry, Riich and Reely, they plan on adding yet another to their portfolio of sub brands.

The new super brand is going to be named Xuan Yuan (轩辕) and takes the name of a man in early Chinese history that managed to build a car using differential gears to power itself somehow.

The assistant to the Chery chairman, Mr. Jin Yi Bo, was quoted as saying “Xuan Yuan is going to be Chery’s flagship premium brand, we are going to aim it at the premium luxury segment, the branding and associated icons have been formally registered with the authorities. We are currently assembling the car line up now.” The exact date for launching the new brand has not yet been released, but it is expected to be released as soon as the Riich and Reely brands have been successfully launched.

Two years ago, pictures of a high end Chery F11 were leaked to to the internet, the F11 was expected to make the use of Chery’s own V6 and V8 engines which ranged from 3.0L to 4.2L which were expected to be used for VIP’s and state use. The F11 is expected to make it into the Xuan Yuan fold

Doesn’t look to bad, but its a shame they’re spreading themselves around so much. If they stuck to just one brand Chery might actually be able to build a really good car, instead of these half hearted attempts. The A3 is almost a great car! The QQme could be the Chinese Smart. The Riich M1 could be a contender against the Yaris. But they seem to start a job get bored half way through and rush it to production.

Riich, Rely, Karry, Faira, Xuan Yuan…….
Who is coaching Chery in the field of branding?
When will the dust settle….when will the confusion end?
And Geely has taken this same questionable path.

Obviously not a native English speaker or someone with international branding experience.

Brand-awareness building must be a foreign concept in China. If you want brand, buy foreign brand cars. If you want cheap price, buy Chinese brand cars.

These cars and brands are no worse than your American brands like Dodge, so shut up.

ed, read his comment, he is not talking about sheer quality (which we will all agree dodge has not) but brand awareness.

the biggest challenge for chinese brands is build a name (good one or bad one) for themselves, a recognition among the population, like most american or european brands have. and they are part of the culture plainly because they’ve been around for a century.

brand-awareness is not a foreign concept in china, nor i think the people responsible for their designs don’t have a clue. it just takes time and many trial and errors!

Is it me or does this car look heavily based on an Alfa Romeo? Alfa from the windscreen back with a kind of Buick looking front.
