Next generation of Nissan Micra spotted in China!

6 November 2009 13 Comments

The Dongfeng Nissan JV is getting quite a bit of a boost in the next coming months, its line up already consists of two SUVs (Qashqai and X-Trail) Compact hatches and sedans (Livina, Tiida, and Bluebird Sylphy) as well as larger sedans such as the Nissan Teana. That line up is soon to be extended by the launch of the Chinese built Nissan Quest MPV and also the addition of the super cute micro car, the Nissan Micra:

The above cars are from an initial test run of cars that Nissan produced with Dongfeng, and they look to be the latest generation of Micra, which Nissan have only just released sketches of.

The Micra is expected to be the cheapest car in the Nissan China line up and will be placed lower than the Nissan Livina, although it will carry the same 1.6L engine and 4 speed auto and 5 speed manual gearbox.

Why is every small car called cute? They don’t make you smile when you see them or make you want to pinch their cheeks. I have never seen a cute car. I have seen cute girls driving cars though.

I agree with the head.

When will there be a small car that isnt targetted at young girls or 40 year old women? I even find the Fiat 500 a little girly, although the Alfa MiTo looks rather meaty.

The only small car that I like is the Fiesta, and the Swift. Everything else goes under my personal nice car radar.

The Fiat 500 Abarath is ok but I agree the regular one is girly. The 90+ Hp on it is pretty girl too. Is the Mito out in China? How much is it?

Not available here. I saw it during my summer vacation around Europe.

It’s not a bad looking car, but why call it the Micra in China……considering it can’t even get into the 1.5l engine tax bracket? How about Nissan calls it the “we are too cheap to bring one of our small engines to China, but we still want people to THINK we have a small car”? A WEAK effort by a company that should know better……..I have a feeling the “Micra” will end up being toilet paper for the Fit, Polo, Yaris, etc. – SO WHAT if you can get a 1.6l for the price of 1.3 Fit? I’ll take the Fit ANYTIME – better looking, better gas mileage and the best folding rear seats in a small car today. WHO in their right mind would want to drive a small car like the Micra, but get the gas mileage of a larger car like the Livina or Tiida? This is STUPID Nissan…….VERY STUPID.

That doesn’t “look just the same as foreign built ones” – its the first photo I’ve seen of the next generation Micra – it matches the sketches recently issued by Nissan.
That’s quite a scoop you’ve got there, you just haven’t realised.

The pictures show a car different from the Micra sold in Europe. Is it the next generation of the car?

Cute or not, if they put the 1.6L in that it’s going to fly.
