Initially when Japan produced a new model they sold it in Japan for a year or more before they exported it to insure they had the highest possible quality. If China does the same thing, it won’t be long and they will take over a huge part of the market.

The US is good with styling and glitz but quality and good service is what makes return buyers and the big three in the US just don’t seem to be able comprehend thet or just don’t give a damn.

My 1993 Camry with 197,000 miles on it is still running like a top. I don’t know about Toyota service since I’ve never needed anything beyond the regular scheduled service. I didn’t have one warrantee repair. I’ve had 8 American cars before I went Japanese and I will never go back to US cars but China has got my attention.

How long do you think it will be until McDonalds, Burger King and others in the market place have charging points in their parking lot?

You get a hamburger and get a charge at the same time.

I have my Camry if I need a long trip or need something bigger but 99% of my traveling will be less than 100 miles a day, and if I need a little help, I’ll stop for a Whopper.

And for emergency, I might just have a little Honda generator in the trunk.

Wall Street Journal disagrees after having a test-drive of BYD’s E6.

“The tech chief of a global auto maker who recently drove BYD’s all-electric battery car, the e6, told The Wall Street Journal that he was “truly astonished that they plan to sell such a half-baked car” in China later this year and in the U.S. next year.

The ride was “rough,” which indicates a problem with the car’s computer control technology, and its handling was “squishy,” the executive said.”
