MG6 – Ready for international LIFT OFF

20 November 2009 6 Comments

An MG6 complete with UK style plates has been spotted and posted to the net. However, the tangy orange car looks like it was recently in an advertising shoot rather than being sent to the UK:

Either way, we now have a much clearer picture of what the finished article is going to be. The MG6 launches next week at the Guangzhou Auto Show, and will be the first MG in quite a few years.

That’s not a, modern, British numberplate. In fact, using the date letter at the end of a plate stopped in 1983 (And switched to the start of the plate, which in turn stopped in 2001), and they never used Z for date lettering.

looks like a northern ireland plate to me but then real plates aren’t used in adverts anyway.

True, normally they go for ones that can be mirrored so they only need to film one advert for LHD and RHD markets.

The old MG Rover press shots used fake UK plates too. The 2005 mkII ZS press shot cars had 111 VVY and YYY 81 as their plates.

I can’t wait to see the MG6 in the UK, if it’s Longbridge built, I’m buying one.

The back and side looks great, but I’m not so crazy about the front.
