That is right. It is pretty rare in the US to hear about a US car that is so fantastic it beats Japanese or BMW in performance and quality. The only cars that I can think of that have gotten good reviews are the newer Corvette and the one Cadillac model. I don’t remember which model even. But to claim a Buick is fantastic is quite a bold statement. I gurantee you won’t here it in the US about the Lacrosse.

I preferred the Lacrosse to the Caddy CTS (not the V though) and the SLS.

The Lacrosse is brilliant, I think Im the only one saying it though.

CCT you obviously havent been driving many American cars in China. I understand that it is hard to find a good American car even in the US of A, but hell a Buick Lacross!!!

CCT you have to be kidding about the Buick Lacrosse. Maybe one of the better cars in China. Not even close to one of the better cars in the US. CCT do you live in the US? Why would you think it is the best American car? I will be honest I haven’t driven the new one. But it would have to be so far off from the last one. The last one is crap. I have driven one in China. I ride in it almost everyday. There isn’t anything good about it. The seats suck. The head room for for someone under 172cm tall. The dash is boring. You feel every tiny bump in the road even though the steering and suspension are loose. I can’t comment on the 3.0 engine. It has to be a huge improvement over the very weak 2.4 engine. Gas mileage is crap for a 2.4 liter. My honda 2.4 is way stronger and gets 30% better gas mileage.

Sure, sure, sure agree HH, but I think was refering to people commenting who should know better and probably know what a good car is and have a wee bit of a clue as to what may define one as not being bland.
A lot of CCT’s readers and comments are Im sure “international”. The mold must be broken if PRC wants to become serious about hitting the international market placethen look alikes, old rehashes, and fugly abortions are not going to do it.
They are fine cars for the locals, butttttttt…..

It is all bland and rubbish but it still sells here. That is the real problem. Chinese people do not demand excellence in a car at this time. Until the people demand more there is going to be plenty of the same ole same old if you know what I mean. If you look at manufacturing in China. Anything that is popular many factorys jump on to make the exact same product. They even share molds or copy the molds instead of trying to make something different. There is no reason to come up with something new and exciting if the market doesn’t demand it. It is going to take some years before the market here changes for sure.

I cant believe comments such as “wow.looks great” (not only just from you Ed) – it looks ordinary at the best and just like all the other faceless crap on the market )and about to be on the market) in China. Stand on any street in PRC and be bowled over by the same looking bland rubbish-with the really oddball fugly specimens thrown in. Its seems Chineses designers can only do UGLY or BLAND, and nothing with a touch class or style.
