Citroen to bring stop-start technology to China

Citroen are planning to introduce stop-start technology into China in 2010, becoming one of the first international car manufacturers to offer this technology in China.

Currently only Chery are offering this technology on their A5 sedan, but Citroen will be the first to mass produce it for their vehicles. Citroen claim that it can save upto 15% more fuel than a regular car. Citroen haven’t yet announced an exact date for production, but they are expected to produce a few demo cars early next year which will be tested by customers to see if there is a large demand for it in China, according to a Citroen representative, the stop start technology is expected to save the average Chinese motorist around 2000rmb per year in fuel fees.
