Mitsubishi Colt spotted out testing again – China bound at last?

The Mitsubishi Colt has a minor cult (Colt?) following in overseas markets where it is praised for its reliability, and in certain models performance. The Colt has been spotted out testing before in China, but nothing has come it since August this year.

The introduction of the Colt is likely to happen via the SouEast-Mitsubishi JV which Mitsubishi have said before will become the main JV in China for producing passenger vehicles (and not SUVs). The Colt is most likely to launch in early 2010 if it is to be put into production at all, and will carry a 1.3L or 1.5L engine. Ford have proven with the Fiesta that people will still buy small but expensive cars despite the vast number of Chinese small cars available, introducing the Colt into China is likely to be the next step for Mitsubishi who are struggling to survive in the worlds largest car market.
