quite optimistic for the speed gauge to be set to 240km/h dont you think?
Will it struggle past 155km/h? dont bet on it

  2. avatar Head Honcho says:

The dial indicator is set at 210km/h. Or you taking about the farthest it will go? 240km/h isn’t that fast. Mod it up a bit and someone should be able to his that. If someone can get almost 1000hp out of a 4 cyclinde Ecotec engine they should be able to get this up to 240km/h pretty easily. So was that sarcasm? Sarcasm doesn’t translate well typed.

      1000hp out of a 4 cylinder engine??!

      • avatar Head Honcho says:

Yeah that is pretty crazy. But yeah they are. Heavily modified. I was pretty surprised when I saw it. I didn’t ask how long they last either. This was a few years back and they were sponsored so I think the engines were free anyway.

    • avatar Alibaba says:

No, the dash board will light up for about 3 seconds when you start up the car, that note on the picture says the visual effect is very cool.

  3. avatar Q says:

I love the doors, lights, and the interior. Really well done SAIC. 240km/h should not be a problem at all for this vehicle.

    • avatar FrugalOne says:

240km/h without modifications on this car is impossible, period. 180km/h without modifications on this car is impossible, period.
160km/h would be quite optimistic assuming parts of the panels don’t start falling off and the engine noise doesnt kill you first

      • avatar CCT says:

185-190kph is possible in a regular 2.0L, a 1.8T will be able to push 210kph no problem.

The much heavier Rover 75 1.8T is good for 210kph:
“A total of two hundred and fifteen Newton metres of torque is available between two thousand and four thousand rpm, and this makes the 1,8T a very driveable car in cut-and-thrust traffic.

It is also pretty good on acceleration. It offers a zero to one hundred sprint of just over nine seconds and a two hundred and ten kilometres per hour top speed, so performance is very competitive in this fully-equipped vehicle.”

        same engine, various updates.

        • avatar Windy says:

“same engine, various updates.” – the R75 had a de-tunned version of the engine so not the best comparison and at top speed the fastback aerodynamics will help…

      • avatar Q says:

Right… and you know that because??! Exactly, you don’t.

        • avatar Q says:

I can bet you all I have that this car will do 240km/h without any modifications no problem. If you’re not willing to bet, then be quiet.

        • avatar FrugalOne says:

apart from the fact that we actually tested the vehicle for heat and endurance tolerance here in Australia? And no, it did not do so well, just don’t drive it in 43degree heat for more than 4 hours.

Like i said, no modification no hill, no 180km/h. MG deserves a better engine

        • avatar traven says:

and I guess you also tested it’s maxmium speed?? I don’t care about its heat and endurance tolerance. My friend had a brand new Ford, he drove it in the summer at around 40 degrees for only an hour and a half, and the car broke down.

        • avatar Head Honcho says:

40 degrees is really not that hot. It gets to 50 degrees where I live in California and usually you only see really old cars breaking down from the heat. It probably wasn’t the heat that caused the car to break down or was multiple things. Only if they were running it at the maximum output for an extended amount of time should it have problems if it is a new car. Were they redlining it for 4 hours?

        • avatar traven says:

Exactly, it isn’t all that hot. I guess this justifies the “Ford, built tough” statement.

        • avatar sinlikara says:

          haha ford suck

  4. avatar Greg says:

the BMW tail lights should be no problem, but the MG logo could be invitation to a lawsuit.

  5. avatar dogtucker says:

Dont know what gear this heapajunk was in when the photo was taken but its red lining at 210ks!

  6. avatar Roewe owner says:

For all of you, when you first start-up the car, the car goes into self diagonstics. All of the instrument panel will light up and the dials will sweep over to the right and then settle back to proper operating condition.

  7. avatar safdar says:

i think it may electronic and we will be comfortable.i wish i would have the same car.

  8. avatar M0L0TOV says:

I think the car looks great but I think the gauges could like nicer for a car with the MG moniker.

  9. avatar safdar says:

none of the car can be better than it.when it moves it gives lighting flash and it never be destroyed
