40 degrees is really not that hot. It gets to 50 degrees where I live in California and usually you only see really old cars breaking down from the heat. It probably wasn't the heat that caused the car to break down or was multiple things. Only if they were running it at the maximum output for an extended amount of time should it have problems if it is a new car. Were they redlining it for 4 hours?

and I guess you also tested it's maxmium speed?? I don't care about its heat and endurance tolerance. My friend had a brand new Ford, he drove it in the summer at around 40 degrees for only an hour and a half, and the car broke down.

apart from the fact that we actually tested the vehicle for heat and endurance tolerance here in Australia? And no, it did not do so well, just don't drive it in 43degree heat for more than 4 hours.

Like i said, no modification no hill, no 180km/h. MG deserves a better engine

185-190kph is possible in a regular 2.0L, a 1.8T will be able to push 210kph no problem.

The much heavier Rover 75 1.8T is good for 210kph:
"A total of two hundred and fifteen Newton metres of torque is available between two thousand and four thousand rpm, and this makes the 1,8T a very driveable car in cut-and-thrust traffic.

It is also pretty good on acceleration. It offers a zero to one hundred sprint of just over nine seconds and a two hundred and ten kilometres per hour top speed, so performance is very competitive in this fully-equipped vehicle."

240km/h without modifications on this car is impossible, period. 180km/h without modifications on this car is impossible, period.
160km/h would be quite optimistic assuming parts of the panels don't start falling off and the engine noise doesnt kill you first

Yeah that is pretty crazy. But yeah they are. Heavily modified. I was pretty surprised when I saw it. I didn't ask how long they last either. This was a few years back and they were sponsored so I think the engines were free anyway.

For all of you, when you first start-up the car, the car goes into self diagonstics. All of the instrument panel will light up and the dials will sweep over to the right and then settle back to proper operating condition.

I love the doors, lights, and the interior. Really well done SAIC. 240km/h should not be a problem at all for this vehicle.

The dial indicator is set at 210km/h. Or you taking about the farthest it will go? 240km/h isn't that fast. Mod it up a bit and someone should be able to his that. If someone can get almost 1000hp out of a 4 cyclinde Ecotec engine they should be able to get this up to 240km/h pretty easily. So was that sarcasm? Sarcasm doesn't translate well typed.
