Ford sold over 42,260 Fiesta’s from March to November
The Fiesta is an excellent motor, and that is reflected by its fantastic sales.
In November alone Ford sold over 5000 Fiesta’s, making it the best month to date for the little motor that appears to have captured a certain market niche in a segment that is awash with cheap cars that cost as little as a third of the Fiesta. Ford are not happy with sales of just 5000 cars per month, they are actually aiming to double that monthly figure in 2010 to average 10,000 Fiesta’s being driven off the lot every month.
The Focus is also performing well for Ford, with it garnering over 12,000 sales in November.

I can believe this. I am seeing lots of Fiestas on the road now.
I wonder what are the sales figures for its close cousin, Mazda2?
The Mazda 2 looks better but the base model is a bit higher in price so it probably effects the sales quite a bit.
I’m not of the opinion that the Mazda2 looks better than the Fiesta, although I do think it also looks pretty good.
The reason I find the difference in sales success surprising is because most here don’t realize the connection between Mazda and Ford. And being a Japanese make, that should give the advantage to the Mazda2.
But perhaps the pricing difference between the two is quite significant.
Maybe the Mazda 2 isn’t available with the 1.3 liter? I saw in one of the magazines that the Ford was 70,000 + some change for the 1.3 liter.
My guess was wrong. It does come in a 1.3 liter also.
I had a look re: pricing. Comparing the Mazda2 hatch with the Fiesta hatch, there is a 5-9k RMB difference in price for the 1.3L models (with the Fiesta being cheaper).
However, for the 1.5L models the pricing gap narrows to 1-3k RMB.
Of course, differences in standard equipment between the various models may make the price difference even bigger or smaller, but I suspect they should be fairly close. So just looking at the pricing range alone, the Mazda2 does appear to be more expensive.
For the Fiesta hatch, the base 1.3L manual is surprisingly cheap, at 78.9k RMB. For those looking at getting an auto, the cheapest is 92.9k RMB (for the 1.3L auto). But at this point you might as well spring the extra 3k RMB and get the 1.5L auto (95.9k RMB). So I suspect that Fiesta buyers fall mainly into two categories – those looking to economize, and choosing the 1.3L manual. And those who need an auto and going for the 1.5L (either the “modern” or top-of-the-line “sport” models).
It also appears that pricing for 2010 Fiesta 1.5L models have gone up by 5k RMB, but this may not be final yet.
