Hybrid Roewe 750 to launch in May 2010

28 December 2009 5 Comments

roewe750hybridSAIC wheeled out their Roewe 750 hybrid sedan way back in November 2006, and until then we have not seen hide nor hair of the good looking gentlemen’s hybrid since then.

Now it appears that SAIC are getting closer to putting a hybrid heart into the 750, and it will see production early next year according to our sources.

Specific specifications for the 750 have not yet been released but SAIC have apparently put together 15 hybrid test cars. The Roewe 550 pure electric and hybrid versions have just completed their planning stage, the Roewe 550 pure electric version is likely to launch in 2012.

I believe this is a mild hybrid, i.e. electric motor supplements gas engine power, but cannot power the vehicle independent of it.

Another note on Roewe:
According to the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2009 China Customer Service Index Study, Roewe ranks fourth highest in customer satisfaction with authorized dealer after-sales service, next only to Guangzhou Honda, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz.
