Another sedan from BYD: The G6

BYDG6 spy 300x199 Another sedan from BYD: The G6BYD’s love of sedans is hardly a secret, although they do have an SUV and MPV in the pipeline, it seems that their bread and butter is sedans. The latest sedan is this rendered BYD G6 (left) which is apparently going to be bigger than the current BYD F6.

From what we understand, BYD’s G-series of cars is going to be their semi premium line up, whilst the F-series will be the regular run of the mill cars. The first car into the G-series was the BYD G3.

BYD also has the L3 sedan, and an I6 sedan in development, it appears that BYD are certain to head down the well trodden road of quantity over quality, that their northern neighbours Chery and Geely seem to be doing so well.

    *cough* Honda Accord *cough*

Holy Honda Accord batman!! I prefered the previous generation Accord to the current one, BYD have stuck the new Kia Ceed grille on it though which is not a good move!!

I see that BYD is diversifying, from making Toyota clones to clones of other brands too.

  4. avatar Ed says:

Looks nice, I don’t see a Honda in it.

  5. avatar lol says:

    lol @ Ed

from toyota to honda, byd has got a “thing” for the japanese.

if chery and geely can slowly move away from clones then how come this warren buffet endorsed company still using photocopier machine ?

    • avatar Ed says:

It doesn’t look like a Honda, and is not a photocopy.

      > how come this warren buffet endorsed company still using photocopier machine ?

It’s not a long term investment.

      Ed

to deny that this looks like a previous Accord is to blindly defend BYD at all costs

      face it

      it is very Accordish
it’s not as bad as the Corolla-carbon-copied F3, but fact is that it does looks very much like the Accord.

      • avatar Ed says:

Where and how does it look like an Accord?? Just because it’s somewhat Accordish doesn’t mean it’s a copy. There are tons of cars out there that are Accordish.

Are you kidding me? You’re right, it isn’t a copy, it’s a fotoshop of an Honda Accord press photo, with a ” new ” grille and a crappy backdrop. They didn’t even bother changing the wheel design or the color of the car.

Now, seriously, i’ve seen some of your comments here before. Are you trolling?

        • avatar Ed says:

Are you blind?? The wheel is clearly different. Plus, have you seen it in person to make a comparison with an Accord as opposed to blind judgement on a low resolution photo, which may or may not even be real.

        • avatar jacksonliu says:

          Ed, you failed

It’s not even a copy of the Accord, done by BYD

This picture actually IS an Accord

just scroll down the page and see the link posted by Sydney

        • avatar Ed says:

Oh wow, so it IS a photoshop. I never realized that.

        • avatar jacksonliu says:

          ok
so you realized it was a photoshop work since the beginning, and it was based on an Accord picture.

even though, you would still argue it didn’t look like an Accord.

          now, THAT makes sense….

  6. avatar Robert says:

Dont all new cars look like the Honda accord?

    • avatar Ed says:

True, some people will jump up and point their fingers even when they see only one or two bits that are similar to the Honda Accord.

    • avatar Head Honcho says:

What car does look like a Honda Accord? I don’t know of any Toyotas, Fords, GM, Suzuki, Volkswagon. Never seen a car on the road that I would have mistaken for one.

  7. avatar Mido says:

It looks more like Honda Spirior!

  8. avatar hondasx8 says:

wow this is appauling first they copied the bmw logo, then the corolla and now the Honda Accord Euro / Acura TSX! Another chinese copycat to add to a growing list of chinese rip offs

  9. avatar lol says:

lol i thought BYD is already on the list long ago

  10. avatar Paul says:

How can some of you possibly NOT see a Honda Accord in this?

  11. avatar hondasx8 says:

i meant the “new” byd g6 sedan is new to the list of Chinese rip offs!

  12. avatar Q says:

I see only some similarities, however, this is definately not a copy.

  13. avatar Wes says:

Good car. I like it and I hope we will be able to see the final version soon. A real version.

  14. avatar sydney says:

If you want to see a real version just go to Honda or Acura dealer and look for the Honda Accord Euro and Acura TSX.

  15. avatar sydney says:

check out this link;http://images.drive.com.au/drive_images/Editorial/2007/10/04/04Honda_m_m.jpg, and look at the byd g6. it looks like byd photo shopped the picture of the accord and just changed the grille!

    • avatar jacksonliu says:

      Indeed

yeah, this is what actually happened

the picture on top of this post was probably just a stupid photoshop work done and released by someone at BYD just to cause some fuss in the media, so that they can get some attention by the press.

we’ve been debating over some stupid photoshop work. This debate is over and useless.

There’s no point for NO ONE to deny that this looks like an Accord anymore. It IS an Accord, period.
