BYD E6 to launch in first half of year, priced at 300,000rmb
BYD’s ground breaking E6 pure electric MPV is set to launch in the first half of this year according to the Chinese media. The Chinese Ministry of Information recently published a list of upcoming cars, of which the QCJ7006 (aka the codename for the E6) was listed. BYD is reportedly setting up a new company from which to run its new energy vehicles, possibly a sub-brand, which is currently being set up and should be ready later this year.
From what we have learned so far, the E6 is an AWD drive MPV which is the first for many things (first Chinese AWD MPV, first BYD MPV, first pure electric Chinese car), the E6 will have the best of both MPV and SUV when it hits the market. The E6 measures 4554*1822*1630mm and has a wheelbase of 2830mm, which makes it comparable to the Mazda5 size wise, however it will only have seating for five rather than six.
Battery power comes from BYD’s very own ET-Power (we dare not jest), which according to BYD wont do any damage to the environment. The ET-Power batteries will not explode in a crash, and reportedly have a high safety level. The E6 can be recharged from a home electrical outlet of the 220v kind, and also a 3C fast charging station, a 15 minute charge will boost its batteries to 80% full.
The E6 has already passed Chinese government crash tests, and is close to full production. Testing has lead to large improvements to the cars hardware and software, which have lead to a speeding up of the eventual production time, pricing is expected to be around 300,000rmb.
The E6 will be first launched in China before heading to other nations, its first real test will be as a taxi in BYD’s home city of Shenzhen, with the city government already ordering somewhere between 30 and 100 vehicles especially to use as taxis.

great news .
Just hope they can get enough money to hire real designers for their next generation of cars.
300,000 is pretty high price. Lets see how they hold up as taxis in Shen Zhen. So the taxi drivers will need to go plug them in for 15 minutes a couple times a day?
it means nothing to stop for 15 minutes to recharge the batteries if it can help to improve air quality!
You are being such a jerk. This is GREAT news, some people care about the environment, and 15 minutes is nothing if we can exist on planet earth for decades more. 300,000 is not high for what you’re getting, and with this car’s range, there is no need to recharge it more than once a day.
Relax Ed. I didn’t write anything negative. Use your own name. Everyone is tired of your multiple personas with the same personality. Just switching to electric cars isn’t going to save the world. That energy still has to come from somewhere. There have been some great shows on tv lately showing how they are working on getting energy out of Algae and some other ideas. They all look promising.
i’m not Ed, retard. Even if the energy comes from purely coal burning plants, it’d still be more efficient than gasoline powered cars. The US has done studies and found it so
I am sure CCT would jump in if you weren’t Ed. Convenient when you agree with something the US has said.
traven and I are not the same person. You need to stop being malicious. I agree with people when they have solid evidence to back up what they say, I believe it is the same case with traven and a majority of people. If you can’t give up 15 minutes a day to help save the environment, which you probably end up wasting anyways, then why are you talking? I can’t do anything if you don’t take any action, but that doesn’t mean you can diss it, just like how you diss everything else.
Throwin down some slang. I actually don’t ever diss. Put a p in front of it and yeah I do that daily.
Ed I will believe it can recharge 80% in 15 minutes when it gets on the road and is actually doing it. That would be truly amazing. Car companies are throwing out crazy numbers on how long their car can run without recharging and no one has put anything into production that can really do it. I will believe it when I see it. A company can claim anything they want and many do. Then the test is to see how long it can do that for without major problems.
Actually, GM is the one with the crazy claims. All of BYD’s claims have been proven so far, and remember, BYD is one of the world’s best and most innovative battery makers, so I wouldn’t be surprised if their batteries are superior when compared to others. This is not based on the traditional rechargeable battery technology. There is no point in being negative when you haven’t seen it.
Where have they proven their technology? Their car isn’t out. It isn’t proven until it is on the market and it performs as they claim. You are getting way ahead of yourself just like they are.
Read my post again, I said so far. I didn’t say they’ve proven this claim. Then again, they have no reason to start exaggerating now.
Ed they have already exaggerated and made huge claims. Amazing how you see it on foreign companies and not Chinese companies.
Just read your post again. You did say they had proven all their claims. Maybe you should read it again.
“All of BYD’s claims have been proven so far” Maybe you should be more careful of what you write. So far would include anything to the present and their claims on this electric car because they have already made claims on this car.
Head Honcho, why are you being so sour? why don’t you tell us where byd has exagerated and which claims were not proven? ed said to date, not this claim. Attacks on others won’t help either. I’ve met ed and traven and they are not the same people. Where do you get your information from?
I think I am done responding to Ed and all his names.
You know what, traven was right, you are a jerk.
and you still haven’t answered. Exactly which claims were exaggerated? Do you have an answer?
Being the world largest auto factory by what was it 2025. Very possible their claims on this car charging 80% in 15 minutes an how far it will go. It just isn’t proven yet.
You are all ED. Ed, Traven, Q. All one person with half a brain.
Wow, you are so pathetic. How the hell do you predict what’s going to happen in 2025?? Do you want to teach me that?? If all 3 of us have half of a brain, then you must have no brain, or eyes at all. I think you and George Bush are the same person just based on your stupid comments. Again, I need no evidence at all, because that’s just how smart I am, right, HH??
If BYD can demonstrate this car and prove its recharging claims, they will have a winner in the US and elsewhere. Price is no object for those who really want to be on board a viable EV. lol, I see the same shit still goes on over here.
Cute.
I was just having fun with Ed and Ed.
ed and ed? What do you mean?
So I can remember who it was that said it but it is true. Ed posts, then Traven then Q. Always the same order. Seems like Ed would switch it up some.
So? wow, that sure sounds like all the evidence you need to determine we are all the same people. Are you brain dead or something?
You guys are sharing the same email address and IP. Come on.
E-mail, I believe so, IP address, no. Don’t be stupid.
Your method of guessing is brilliant, by the way. I’m sure you can figure out that we are the same person by just looking at the order of our posts. Don’t be stupid.
