Is it the MG2 this time?
Last week we posted a few blurry pictures of a future MG3, now it that car has resurfaced on the back of a flatbed truck and is being labeled by the Chinese press as being the new MG2:
The MG2 was originally slated to be the Roewe 150, but it seems that the car will be the first to break away from the Roewe first policy that has so far seen the Roewe brand get all the new cars.
According to Chinese reports, the above MG2′s platform has nothing to do with the current MG3SW, the Chinese media is going as far as to say that the car is based off Fiat’s Punto Small Common Components and Systems (SCCS) platform. Which if true, would give the MG2 a decent platform to ride on when compared to the MG3 SW’s ancient suspension set up.
The MG2 could launch in around October this year and we might even see it at the Beijing Auto Show in April this year.

No, probably not. Why do you want every car to be the new MG2? This shape doesn’t look very MG, especially the black plastic behind the side windows look far too cheap. My bet: Lifan.
It has a MG badge on it…
Crap, I only saw the logo and the front just yet. It doesn’t look very good on my opinion, so let’s hope not. Sorry to accuse you.
You can’t tell anything when it’s a heavily camouflaged test car.
I hope to see new MG range (MG6, MG2, “supermini”) in Europe next few year

Hmm. Sides have quite a BMW kind of ‘flame’ profile. The MG6 has a bit of that too but not sure it works so well here.
WE SHALL SEE..
If it is an MG, then SAIC want shooting. The styling is far, far too bland and uninteresting for European tastes. It needs to look more like the Fiesta if it’s to sell.
It looks like an MG version of the current Swift, which is starting to look a bit dated. My verdict is out until better pics are available.
