Dongfeng Luxgen SUV spotted out testing!

The Dongfeng Luxgen tie up between mainland China’s Dongfeng and Taiwan’s Yulong automotive has produced a few upcoming vehicles that are supposed be produced in China under the Dongfeng brand in the next couple of years, their first product was an MPV (that has yet to launch in Mainland China) and they also proposed to make an SUV, that SUV has since been spotted out testing in China:

The overall design of the compact crossover SUV is fairly unique, although it does appear to be very butch in its design, like the Subaru Tribeca. This SUV will measure (LxWxH) 4800/1930/1760mm, and will have a wheelbase of around 2910mm. On the engine front, reports say that it will be carrying a 2.4L Turbo engine, as well as some fancy electronics like LDWS, Night vision, heated and massaging seats.

The Luxgen MPV has already launched in Taiwan but has yet to launch in China, it is expected to be put into production in October of 2010.

I’m interested as long as they do a bit of work on the grill.

Do Chinese automotive designers work with their eyes closed?

The Luxgen is a brand independently developed by Yulon Motors of Taiwan. Their cooperation with Dong Feng probably comes from Yulon association with Nissan. I saw this car in Taiwan. Looks good. Overload with features.
