Facelift Jetta spotted out without camoflauge

The mark2 Jetta must hold a very special place in China’s heart, its a car that refuses to pass on into automotive heaven and instead is used as a taxi and cheap strong transport across the PRC. The mk2 Jetta has been in production in China from 1991, and looks like it will be in production for quite a few more years:

The new front end brings the Jetta more in line with the current VW China nose, a thick grill has been given away in favor of a thin long grill which is more suited to the Shanghai built VW Passat. The current Jetta is still in production via the FAW-VW joint venture in Changchun.

The new Jetta is reportedly 6mm wider than the previous model, and the cars height has been lowered by 23mm. The lower height is due to a new suspension that FAW-VW have introduced, FAW-VW have also done away with the old 1.6 engine and have sourced a more modern version from the out going VW Polo.

I think that this car it’s a piece of history, so there is no need to make more of it, or at least not doing such funny looking makeover.
