Before 2013, Greatwall to release 5 high end SUV’s
Greatwall is one of China’s more succesful automotive companies, they have built up their business slowly and surely by tapping into market needs. When the market required pick up trucks and SUV’s to haul heavy loads, they produced them, when the market turned towards small cars they quickly adapted to market needs and produced a range of small cars. Now Greatwall, unusually headed by a female matriarchal figure in a stereotypical mans world, is planning to release five new high end SUV’s before 2013.
The Greatwall Perry was a fantastic success for Greatwall Motors (GWM) in 2009, as was the Hover SUV which sold over 72,000 models making it the best selling self developed Chinese SUV in China last year. The Hover brand of vehicles is set to be expanded by its name, Hover, and a number (i.e. 5) to spread over a range of cars including M-Series, H-Series, SC Series. The M-Series will be a range of small cars, whilst the H-Series will be 2.0L SUVs and the SC Series will be the premium series of SUVs.
The GWM range of small SUVs, the M-Series, has already been launched. The first in the line up was the Greatwall Hover M2, which is essentially a crossover version of the popular Perry and in AWD format as well. The second car to hit the M-series was the M3, a crossover version with AWD of the Coolbear MPV (left).
At the last Beijing Auto Show, the GWM Hover H6 was on show, but seemed to be outdone by the future GWM sedan to its left. GWM’s first sedan is not set to be the sports sedan concept, instead it will be a notchback sedan version of the Greatwall Florid
