Skoda Octavia Wagon to launch at Beijing?!

According to the website Autohome.com.cn, Shanghai-VW are planning to launch the Skoda Octavia Wagon into China. The Octavia first launched in China in 2007, and has sold very well so far. The facelift Octavia is also due to launch at the show, but the real star of the show is likely to be the Octavia Wagon:

The Octavia range has performed reasonably well, with sales of 86125 vehicles sold in 2009 alone which was a 45% increase over 2008 sales. Facelifts and wagons are only going to improve sales in 2010, especially as they already have a sale from China Car Times, just please make it in 2.0TSI form?

Can you please tell me if the Octavia Skoda wagon is for sale in the US. We live in Pennsylvania. We had the pleaseure of renting one when we were in Iceland and we fell in love with it!

Skoda is not for sale in US market. It was 30 years ago. Skoda now is part of VW group and VW will not launch Skoda for various reasons. If you like the make Skoda, you can try some of the VW models. They are basically almost the same.

the closest thing to the Octavia is anything built on the Golf (Rabbit)/Jetta platform or indeed the Audi A3.

As a Skoda owner (on my 6th now!!) they are great cars and it’s a shame hey don’t sell in America. In the UK they are as well built as a VW and cost about £3k-£4k less and have more equipment. So the question here is why wouldn’t you buy a Skoda??

      Great cars.

Im giving the VRS some serious consideration. Hoping it is priced cheaper than the Golf GTI though, would need to be comparable to the Buick Regal 2.0T!
