Guizhou driver upset at being stopped, beats up journalist.
In the city of Guiyang, there is a public service campaign titled “Three Innovations, One Implementation” going on. Guizhou TV’s Channel Five program <Rule of Law Frontline> covered this campaign to go after illegal behavior by car drivers, motorcycle drivers and pedestrians.
On the morning of March 23, 2010, the program team filmed an incident in which a female driver in a car with no license plate was stopped by the traffic police for inspection. According to the video, this Zhonghua sedan was stopped as it went from Taiping Road to Zhonghua Road. While the traffic police officer dealt with the irregulaties of this vehicle, a female reporter went up to interview the driver. When the reporter asked the driver if she is giving Guiyang city a bad image at a time when a public service program was gonig on, something unexpected took place. The female driver turned around, slapped, kicked and punched the female driver and heaped insults. The female driver was stopped by the traffic police officer and spectators.
The female driver sat in the driver’s seat of her car and ignored the order by the police to step out. She kept making calls on her mobile phone. Thirty minutes later, a man who claimed to be a colleague of the female driver showed up. Like his colleague, he refused to speak to the reporter. Eventually, the female driver stepped out and was taken down to the police station.
Guizhou TV said: “This incident has drawn a high degree of attention from the Guizhou provincial and the Guiyang city leaders because of its appalling nature. The relevant police authorities have indicated that the matter will be dealt with in a serious manner.”
and now for the video:

Bring that program to Yanji city , Jilin … the drivers here seem to be stupid idiots that want to die. every block you drive here, you are trying to avoid stupid dangerous drivers ( mostly taxis ) and the I haven’t seen any police patrolling since last year.
She is so stupid, what a shame to Guiyang city.
First things first – this is disgusting, and I hope that this woman is prosecuted for not only the driving crimes, but for the attack on the journalist.
With that said, I also need to say this…..driving in China is not QUITE as crazy as it seems. Once again, as the older generation starts to retire (and therefore are driving less), things slowly get better. Why? Simple – many of the older drivers got their license “under the table” so to speak – with no training or education whatsoever in driving laws or proper driving techniques. The younger generation (by and large) is actually doing the required training and going to the many driving schools that are all over China now – and while they might be overly cautious on the streets as new drivers, I’ll take that over the crazy, lane changing, horn honking, unsafe OLDER drivers that are still out there. For those of us who drive here (car or motorcycle), we still need to be really cautious because it DOES still get crazy out there on the streets……but if anything, I would say the current atmosphere is now “predictably unpredictable” – in other words if you know that the driver in front of you has no idea what they’re doing, you know enough to stay out of their way!!
I love how in China as soon as someone is pulled over, out comes the mobile phone to try to intimidate the officer as to what sort of guanxi the perp might have.
Then they get out of the car and argue and plead the fine with the officer. No respect whatsoever (not that Chinese police really deserve much in the first place).
Don’t know if you guys notice where you are, but in Guangdong (national leader in not obeying laws) there has been an epidemic in the last year and a half or so of cars driving around without plates. Seems they can do all the things the military plates do (park wherever, drive through red lights, speed) and not worry about being ticketed as quite a lot of times the cops fear who might own the car. And cops do NOT do the random check, unlike this Guizhou incident.
I once had to call the traffic police office to come ticket and tow a car that parked EVERY single night at the same spot (illegally) near my home. Car was a Merc 2-dr sports car naturally driven by some 20 yr-old bimbette of Northern China origin. The night the tow truck actually came, she luckily popped out with her girly friend (it was around 10pm so I assume they were out to meet sugar daddy) and when she opened her boot to show she had plates, after the cop asked to see them, everyone (there was a crowd by then) got to see that she actually had FOUR plates and had to shuffle for for the right ones!!
And another note on this incident in Guizhou: Ugly c**ts with bad attitudes should not drive arrogantly and attack reporters!
They should take her car to the car crusher. Oops your tail light is broken too. You can’t drive that we need to impound it.
Why? So that money, and the efforts into making this car could be lost? giving it to someone else who needs a car or selling it would be much better. This is where the brain comes in.
Well it wasn’t a car worth passing on so crushing it is ok. Better to recycle it so it has a chance at being made into rebar for a new apartment building. A much better life for the steel.
Wasn’t a car worth passing on? Excuse me?! I would prefer this car any day over a Toyota or a GM. There are PLENTY of people, not just Chinese people that would love to have this. Crushing it is a waste of money.
Ed why is everything you talk about compared to Toyota or GM? That car is way worse than any toyota or GM except maybe the yaris and aveo. Have you ever driven a Chinese car. It seems you are just a fan of the idea of Chnese cars being better than everything else.
Yes I have driven a Chinese car, do I have to tell you this ten thousand times?! I said I would PREFER THIS OVER a Toyota or GM, I like the Brilliance car better, I didn’t say please tell me what to think. I connected this to GM and Toyota because they are the big brand names which I think are way worse than this car, of course there are millions of others that I can list for you, but I do not want to, so I listed the biggest names, happy? There’s your explanation. Don’t ask me again.
Well I just keep asking since I know you aren’t in China. Curious when you drove one. Not so curious really on why you like it since you must not know anything about cars. That car really does not drive well so if that is your opinion we all should just ignore your thoughts on any of the cars.
Ok, I have written a comment about this before, but somehow, it did not show up.
Yes, I am in Canada as of now, and has only been here for a few months, I do not plan to live here, and probably will go back to China soon. I have driven more Chinese cars in my life than you have posted comments about them, and seriously, I would prefer this over a GM or Toyota, at least I know that the gas pedal won’t get stuck, and the brakes won’t fail all of a sudden.
If you didn’t know, there is something called TRAVELING, yes, how new and exciting. Just because I’m not in China right now doesn’t mean I’m not Chinese, neither does it mean I did not live my whole life in China.
I would love it if you actually ignored me instead of biting my tail every single time, so please ignore me.
You still don’t know anything about cars. You only care what country it is made in. Eventually there will be a great car out of China but we all must wait at this point.
“We all must wait at this point”?! That just shows how much you know about Chinese cars, just keep your mouth shut, don’t embarrass yourself.
