Yes, I am in Canada as of now, and has only been here for a few months, I do not plan to live here, and probably will go back to China soon. I have driven more Chinese cars in my life than you have posted comments about them, and seriously, I would prefer this over a GM or Toyota, at least I know that the gas pedal won’t get stuck, and the brakes won’t fail all of a sudden.

If you didn’t know, there is something called TRAVELING, yes, how new and exciting. Just because I’m not in China right now doesn’t mean I’m not Chinese, neither does it mean I did not live my whole life in China.

I would love it if you actually ignored me instead of biting my tail every single time, so please ignore me.

Then they get out of the car and argue and plead the fine with the officer. No respect whatsoever (not that Chinese police really deserve much in the first place).

Don’t know if you guys notice where you are, but in Guangdong (national leader in not obeying laws) there has been an epidemic in the last year and a half or so of cars driving around without plates. Seems they can do all the things the military plates do (park wherever, drive through red lights, speed) and not worry about being ticketed as quite a lot of times the cops fear who might own the car. And cops do NOT do the random check, unlike this Guizhou incident.

I once had to call the traffic police office to come ticket and tow a car that parked EVERY single night at the same spot (illegally) near my home. Car was a Merc 2-dr sports car naturally driven by some 20 yr-old bimbette of Northern China origin. The night the tow truck actually came, she luckily popped out with her girly friend (it was around 10pm so I assume they were out to meet sugar daddy) and when she opened her boot to show she had plates, after the cop asked to see them, everyone (there was a crowd by then) got to see that she actually had FOUR plates and had to shuffle for for the right ones!!

With that said, I also need to say this…..driving in China is not QUITE as crazy as it seems. Once again, as the older generation starts to retire (and therefore are driving less), things slowly get better. Why? Simple – many of the older drivers got their license “under the table” so to speak – with no training or education whatsoever in driving laws or proper driving techniques. The younger generation (by and large) is actually doing the required training and going to the many driving schools that are all over China now – and while they might be overly cautious on the streets as new drivers, I’ll take that over the crazy, lane changing, horn honking, unsafe OLDER drivers that are still out there. For those of us who drive here (car or motorcycle), we still need to be really cautious because it DOES still get crazy out there on the streets……but if anything, I would say the current atmosphere is now “predictably unpredictable” – in other words if you know that the driver in front of you has no idea what they’re doing, you know enough to stay out of their way!!
