Huatai’s B21 and B11 sedans for Beijing

Huatai (or Hawtai) will attempt to get into the highly competitive luxury car market in China. Apparently they will do so sticking with the Bentley look-alike grille, as seen in their entire lineup. We’ve seen their SUV already. Huatai is also going to show in Beijing their new sedans, the B21 and the B11, which we’ve seen before.

Details on motorization are scarce, but apparently they will use 2.0T, 1.5T self-developed diesel, and 2.0L gasoline engines coupled with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmissions.

While little Zotye struggles to stay ahead of the game, little Huatai is going hog wild with new metal. Where did the new infusion of capital into this private upstart come from?

Mustn’t be from those old Hyundai’s they make…
I am glad they are making the effort though.

Is Huatai’s impressive assault on the Beijing Show an attempt to find a suitable merger partner? With the government encouraging consolidation in the industry, Huatai is presenting itself as a stylish partner. They could form a new conglomerate with other small companies, or join a larger group. Their current style is worth exploring further, so I hope they don’t get swallowed up and simply used for production capacity. That would be a waste.

Great designs, a real breakthrough for Huatai.

Surprised that no one has commented on the 5-series inspired headlights on the B11.

The front of B11 looks like a bastard child from a BMW 5series and Bentley.

Huatai or Hawtai makes shitty Hyundai clones. I’ve bought this crap thinking of Hyundai quality. Terracan by Huatai is a holy crap – it spends so much time repairing at Huatai garage. I wish I’d buy Nissan instead for the same price.

Many parts are covered by rust already (1 y.o. and 35K ODO), Electric system failed 4 times destroying different subsystems (headlights, electric door locks, roof, stereo). None of this is covered by warranty, except the roof motor. Presented by car shop as owner’s fault. Was a period when I was changing headlight lamps 2 times a month!!!

All door rubber fittings trashed after 10K. Not covered by warranty.

Gearbox shaft failed at 35K – wearout! Thanks God, they repaired it for free. 5K before that changed сrossings PTO shaft on my expence.

Cheating on Brand logos – they haven’t even change logos on the steering wheel, selling it with Hyundai logos all over. I think thay ashamed of their own brand name if they remove logos and change it for Hyundai.
