Forget Beijing Auto Show – The action is moving to Shanghai!
The Beijing Auto Show may have been the big automotive show in the first half of the year, but the next big auto show is set to be at the Shanghai Expo which opens officially this weekend. A mass of new energy and hybrid cars are set to launch at the Expo which is being focused on green technology and environmental concerns.
Some of the big names that are going on show are the BYD E6, The SAIC Leaf, and also the new Citroen Metropolis and the stunning Ferrari 599 with a kers hybrid system.
For non hybrid manufacturers, the Expo is a great opportunity to show off their domestically built wares to a global audience, the UK pavilion has already received the services of the MG6 fastback, and the TX4 London cab as service cars.
For international concept car launches, the Shanghai Expo will be a busy one with all the big auto manufacturers rushing to launch their concept visions of tomorrows cars to a global, and more importantly a Chinese audience. All of the big German brands will be launching new concepts, including the BMW Vision Concept, the Mercedes Blue Zero concept, and the Audi Shark concept. The French brands will launch the Citroen Metropolis concept, and also the Peugeot SR1 concept.
