The Englon range was initially developed to house the TX4 taxi which is being built between the British company LTI and Geely in Shanghai Maples factory in Shanghai. The latest Taxi looks have jumped over the forthcoming TX5 cab and developed its own funky style, much akin to an enlarged MINI. Its unlikely to see service as a cab in European markets due to its lack of a wheelchair ramp which is a necessity for the European markets.

The MPV’s have a certain style to them, being short wheelbase but tall, they might be Geely’s entry into the popular Mian Bao Che (Breadvan) segment that Geely have so far ignored but has reaped massive profits for other car manufacturers that have taken full use of the cars to the countryside program that government instigated early last year.

The Englon SX6 SUV appears to have a Mitsubishi style front end about it, but overall the compact SUV looks rather good.

I wish the new Mini SUV used the back of that taxi.

I love the SC5-RV – I saw this in person last December at the Nanning auto show (I saw it in yellow, red is much better) and it’s just wonderful to see in person. I didn’t know they were planning a crossover variant of it (no surprise though), and the SX5 is a great looking crossover (MUCH better than some of the other cross attempts I’ve seen lately……like the Spark). I also think the TXN is a nice, “downsized” version of the TX4. I’ve actually been in the TX4 on the streets (a friend of mine here in Nanning works for Englon right now and is doing PR for the TX4), and while it’s very comfortable (the back seats amazing room), it’s also huge…..the TXN seems like it will be easier to drive on crowded streets. This is just mind-boggling, seeing all the new vehicles Geely has planned. I know that they won’t all make it to production, but damn………….what a great lineup overall.

I especially love the SUV, a great design with a Mitsubishi vibe to it, really would like to see it in person.

Geely’s got a lot of irons in the fire now, Maple, Shanghai LTI, Zhongyu, Volvo, Yulon tie ….
But I’m not seeing a clear delineation between these new model lines, lots of overlapping. It will be interesting to see if Geely can manage this rush to market with more new metal than one can shake a stick at.
Anyway the die is cast now and “conservative” will not be a term used by the media to describe Geely.
In terms of eye appeal, most will agree that the company has come a long way from the abominable Fengyin and the homely Chengbao concepts of just a few years ago.
