Chang’an strengthens Nanjing base, aiming for big sales.
Previously, Chang-An Auto and Nanjing City Government signed a strategic agreement to improve Chang-An’s production capacity in Nanjing. The Chang-An Ford JV is set to see its production capacity increased, and Chang’an Mazda are set to increase their production capacity also.
This year Chang-An revealed its ‘2015 plan’ which will see Chang-An’s own vehicle range, including minivans and self developed car, achieve sales of 3.7 million sales per year, and by 2018 Chang-An are aiming for sales of 5.7 million cars, which will see its sales aims higher than SAIC, FAW, and Dongfeng.

In January you gave us this Reuters report:
Mazda Motor Corp and Ford Motor Co will dissolve their joint venture in China by 2012…….They will likely spin off the joint venture’s factory in Nanjing as a 50-50 joint venture between Mazda and Changan Automobile Group, while Ford and Changan will run the venture’s other factory in Chongqing….
Are you telling us Chang’an will produce independently in Nanjing?
Also after acquiring Hafei and Chang’he, Chang’an is talking with Peugeot and King Long about possible further tie-ups.
Get out of the way!
So many Chinese cars. It won’t last I’m sure, but for now the outpouring of creativity (some good some not so good) is fascinating.
