Chang’an planning odd new mini van
Chang’an are the kings of the bread van, or the mian bao che as it is known in China, in 2009 they sold their 1,000,000th Chang’an Star van which is pretty much a standard sight on rural and city roads alike.
The new van seems to have taken on some Japanese style somewhere in the design stage which has given it an unusual bulge in the headroom department.
Unusual bulges are nothing new to the bread van market, the Chery V2 version had its own strange growth for a while, until it was sent over to the Karry line up.
The Chinese bread vans are usually 7 to 8 seaters and used to ferry people, goods, and just about anything else around town and country with their tiny over worked 800cc to 1.1L engines struggling along.

The RV craze is eventually coming to China and it looks like Chang’an plans to be ready.
EXACTLY what I was thinking, Dragin! This doesn’t look like a utility or work van………more like a camper conversion or possibly a higher level interior with more headroom. I like it, the extra dimensions look good with this van – if the interior is nice it could be it could be a hot little vehicle to travel around in.
This is a pretty nice looking bread van.
