BYD M6 spotted out testing

BYD M6 Roadtest spy 300x224 BYD M6 spotted out testingThe BYD M6 is BYD’s first MPV to hit the market, and is expected to launch later this year.

The M6 was first unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in April of this year, and wowed the crowds with yet another Toyota inspired design. The M6 will launch with a 2.0L and a 2.4L Mitsubishi supplied engine.

BYD are aiming this as a more premium product and plan to aim at government, business and large family users. BYD are obviously being very clever with this MPV as they aim to get into the government procurement catalog and unseat the extremely popular Buick GL8 MPV which has so far been the undisputed champion of business and governmental MPV requirements.

Seems like a lot of Chinese car companies had the same idea. Chery and Dongfeng have similar MPV’s. Among them the new Chery MPV is my favorite. The styling is simple and clean.

  2. avatar kerem says:

this looks like Mitsubishi’s big mpv’s to me.

  3. avatar Paul says:

Tarago/Estima copy. Byd still up to their old tricks.

  4. avatar V8 says:

Looks stolen from Toyota and name stolen from BMW. NICE ONE BYD!

    • avatar Ed says:

      BYD=Build Your Dreams
but nice try. By the way, could you tell me the connection between the letters BYD and BMW? Except that they both start with a B.

      • avatar woxihuanpijiu says:

Ed, you are kidding right? Google BMW M6……

        • avatar Ed says:

          Okay…
How does that demonstrate BYD(Build Your Dreams)=BMW?
Do you know what the Ms stand for in both vehicles?
How do you know that the M here doesn’t stand for MPV?
          You’re ridiculous.

Ed – being only 14 years old and a major fan of Jane Zhang, I think we can safely say that your automotive knowledge does not extend much further than a pack of Top Trump cards.

          Behave yourself.

        • avatar Ed says:

          CCT
          Excuse me? 14 years old?
Where did you get that? You couldn’t be more wrong, lmao.
Yes, I am a fan of Jane Zhang, but how does that relate at all to the Chinese car industry? My depth of knowledge is decided on which artist I like?
I am not 14 years old, and my favourite artist is Jane Zhang.
          Your point is…?

“I think we can safely say that your automotive knowledge does not extend much further than a pack of Top Trump cards.”

I will “behave myself” when you tell me the connection between BYD and BMW, I am surprised by the level of intelligence of some of you. Come up with a proper argument.

Again, would you like to tell me how liking an artist relates to anything posted here, or my automotive knowledge, in this case? If not, then be quite.

By the way, guessing is not the way to find out someone’s age, now have a nice day.

        • avatar CCT says:

          Ok Edwardqiu123 – I was guessing!

        • avatar hk says:

Thanks CCT for the information, it proves my guessing is right. Judging from his picture, I am not so sure he is 14 but would say in the late teens. It is hard to tell from the look of an oriental face and from now on I know how to make response to his comments.

        • avatar bilbo says:

          Ed you’ve ben pwnd

        • avatar Ed says:

          Who the hell is Edwardqiu123?
What are you talking about CCT?
Are you on medication or something?
My real name has nothing to do with Ed (or Edward in this case). This is absolutely ridiculous, and where have you seen my picture, hk?
Seriously, what are you guys talking about, and who the hell is Edwardqiu123?

        • avatar Ed says:

Looking at these comments again, all I can say is, man, you guys are funny. Is this a joke of some sort? and someone tell me who “Edwardqu123″ is, please.

        • avatar hk says:

This kind of denial strongly proves CCT is right.

Ed, I am sure you know how to use google.

        • avatar Ed says:

Yes, my confusion “strongly proves that CCT is right”. Now can someone tell me who Edwardqu is? and where have you seen my picture, hk?

        • avatar Head Honcho says:

We are really getting off topic here but since we are so far off topic already. Everyone has been guessing your age is in the low teens by the way you act and respond to others responses. It isn’t surprising to anyone that your age suits your maturity.

With all the bad news coming from Toyota I think we can expect BYD to stop copying them soon. They might just say: hey guys let’s do better than that. =)

    • avatar woxihuanpijiu says:

They will just start copying Honda instead….

      • avatar mark says:

To be fair to BYD I think in general they are moving away from outright copies to inspired by designs.

        • avatar hk says:

Sorry, up to this moment I cannot see any trace of design by inspiration from BYD. All current models & upcoming models are reverse engineering products with minor skin-depth cosmetic modefications. Even its latest e6 is just a Honda knock-off.

  6. avatar Head Honcho says:

My factory is between the Long Gang and Pingshan BYD factories. Today on my way to the bank I saw a BYD M6 driving on the road. It does look like a Toyota. There is no denying that. The sheet metal and even the plastic bumpers leave some room for improvement. They both are a bit wavey. Either very thin metal or just lack pride in quality and finishing. The fuel cover even had a dent in it created from the inside. I am wondering if the cap wasn’t on all the way or something else in there was enough to dent it just closing the cover. From a distance it looks good.

I’m delighted to see M6′s front grill is bettr looking than the 2010 Previa. the 2010 Previa, while getting the nose obviously from the Benz coupe, plagiarized the whole conceptual set from Benz vitto. This is again obvious if you look at the ist generation previa. The front grill of 2010 Previa looks like suffering from split- lips. The car market is one of biiness espionage and info competition. the Japanese has been excelling the market trend and what;s new through ystmeatic copying and and painstaking spy activities. the biggest fool is the one who doesnt know htis.

BYD copies alot in the exterior design of F6, S8 and M6 aadmittedly. but this is natural trend when the compnay is just a fledging one. Remmeber toyota and nisan some decades ago. Give BYD some time to progress. i hink they will. they are innivative in other areas, but not al the areas ru=ight now underatndably.
