Chery A3CC to finally launch at the years end, and perhaps with Riich brand instead

The Chery A3CC has been in development for a long time, mostly due to its solid roof that folds away to turn itself into an open roofed cabriolet for those fun days down by the beach, or racing through the smog filled 40 degree streets of Beijing. According to Chery, the biggest barrier in the development of the A3CC was the folding roof, the first to be developed by a Chinese company so far.

The A3CC owes its sexy design to the Italian design house Bertone, who Chery have kept busy over the past few years with various requests for new designs. The A6CC will launch at the end of this year according to media sources, however it is likely to loose its Chery markings in favor of Chery’s latest brand, Riich, which is an upmarket brand for all of Chery’s latest cars, thus making the A3CC the Z5 which of course has nothing to do with BMW, Chery also called their flagship SUV an X5.

On the power front, the A3CC, or rather the Riich Z5 will be getting a 2.0T box and a 1.8T box from the G-series of sedans.

Update: The A3CC and the A6CC are two different vehicles. Whilst the A6CC has the solid roof, it is actually the A3CC that is a hard top cabriolet. Thanks to HK for pointing it out via the contact form.

I seem to remember our 50cent army friend telling me that this was an example of great chinese design…….I didn’t know Bertone had moved to Beijing

I’m not sure which Bertone division designed this, but Bertone HAS opened its new headquarters of Bertone China in, despite your sarcasm.. Beijing.

Naa this car design is known to be Italian designed, no one can say otherwise. U must have remembered something else. btw you don’t have to be rude to call other ppl 50 cent army, just becoz they don’t agree with u, that doesn’t mean they are being paid 50 cent.

I don’t care where it’s designed, it looks nice; As simple as that.

I agree with ed. It looks good. End of story. It reminds me of that Brilliance Coupe. When I first saw that I could not believe that it was a Chinese brand.
Quick question: I remember that BYD also has a car with folding roof, right? So this would not be the first

As far as I know, A6CC never has a folding roof. Chery M-14 coupe got one and yes it is the first Chinese car (well ahead of BYD’s S8).

CCT please correct this information !

A reminder to CCT, please resolve the folding roof issue on A6CC.
