Nissan sales up 47% in first half, Honda, Mitsubishi and Mazda have strong showing too
From Nikkei:
New-vehicle sales volumes in China increased sharply for Nissan Motor Co. (7201) and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (7211) in the first half of this year, but Honda Motor Co. (7267) and Toyota Motor Corp. (7203) undershot overall market growth here.
Nissan’s volume rose 47% thanks to robust demand for the Sylphy sedan and other models, almost matching the 47.7% growth of the wider Chinese market. Mitsubishi Motors saw its sales volume surge 58.5%, driven by a new version of the Lancer sedan.
With production suspended by strikes at parts factories, Honda’s year-on-year sales volume declined in May and fell 2.7% in June, limiting first-half growth to 22%, the smallest gain among the five Japanese automakers. Toyota saw its sales volume climb 27.4% after recall woes damped demand for its flagship Corolla sedan.
Mazda Motor Corp. (7261) increased its sales volume 35.8% mainly by slashing the price of the Atenza (Mazda 6 Rui Yi ) midsize car. Meanwhile, a sales expansion in inland regions helped Suzuki Motor Corp. (7269) boost its figure 32.7%.

Great news for Nissan, wonder why there has been such a surge in sales in China.
