PSA to produce Citroen DS4 in Shenzhen
According to Chinese media reports, PSA are planning to put the DS4 concept into product at their new Shenzhen plant.
The DS4 is likely to come to China in a 5 door configuration and will probably launch in 2011 in other market but will appear in China in early 2012.
PSA recently signed a large 50:50 joint venture with Chinese automotive conglomerate Chang’an Auto and will set up its factory in the former Hafei factory in Shenzhen where they will be able to produce 200,000 cars in the first year alone. The introduction of stylish small cars is likely to have a big effect on the large highly wealthy southern provinces where Japanese automotive manufacturers have so far ruled the roost, whilst VW are also moving in to the market. If Citroen manages to make stylish cars that can attract wealthy young professionals then they are likely to strike a chord with the local populace.
