Hyundai i40 to launch in Guangzhou?


Hyundai’s i40 sedan has been spotted on the back of a car transporter sparking rumors in the Chinese automotive press that the mid size sedan will launch at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this year.

Hyundai currently have a joint venture with Beijing Automotive works (BAW) which has seen some major growth in the last 18 months as Hyundai surge in the sales alongside its partner Kia.

The i40 will be sold alongside the last generation Sonata which will be sold as an entry level mid sized car, whilst the i40 is going to make an attempt at taking on the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord in the 200,000rmb and rising sector with a 2.0l and 2.4l engines mated to 5 speed manuals and six speed autos.

    It should be pointed out that in other markets this is the new Sonata. In Europe though it’s been given the name i40 to fit in with the rest of the Hyundai range which all carry i numbers.
