And since Buick China rebadged the Opel Insignia and Astra, you can probably expect this Opel Ampera in China too, again with Buick-badge.

There are 2 types of hybrid available.

1)Toyota Prius & Honda Insight where they run on electricity from start to low speed. Once speed picks up, engine will cut in to take over. You have no control over which mode engaged.

2)BYD F3DM & Chevy Volt where they can run on electricity solely for up to about 50km. When battery power drops low, engine will cut in to take over. For F3DM engine will drive the vehicle directly while Volt’s engine only generates electricity to power the motor. Of course you can select any mode you wish.

Up to the moment it seems Prius/Insight are doing well, F3DM is just a joke. Let us see what will happen to Volt. Wonder if it can enjoy the subsidies from Chinese government as well!
