Volvo says location of new Chinese factory not yet determined
Today Volvo announced that their planned location for a new Volvo China factory were not concrete, and there is no substance to the rumors that have attached the cities of Shanghai, Beijing, and even Da Qing to the planned factory.
Plenty of media outlets in the Chinese media have been guessing where the Volvo plant may land, but Volvo have put the breaks on the rumors by announcing that the China factory is part of the global strategy for Volvo post Geely take over and an announcement will eventually come from the board of directors regarding the location of the factory.

Hmmm….? So the rumors has absolutly no significance?
Shanghai sounds reasonable to me. There is a lot of qualified workers here already and you could actually drive to the Geely HQ in Hangzhou
according to brazilian news, the new factory will be in jiading with a total area of 800.000 m2 and capacity of production of 300.000 cars/year.Volvo plans to open the factory only in the second semester of 2012 and there will be produce the C30 and the V70.
Any significance of a Brazilian news source to this Volvo issue ?
In order to balance different interest groups, Geely has to proceed in a quiet way until the rice is fully cooked. Shanghai and Beijing are most probable as they are where Volvo can expand its market share significantly.
jiading is near shanghai f1 circuit, right?
Johnson – not far, you can see it on the subway ride over (I think I did, anyway.)
