Kia recalling 18,000 vehicles, 8000 in China

Kia are planning to recall 18,000 vehicles globally of which 8,000 vehicles are located in the Chinese market. The extent of the issue is not entirely clear, however the cars that are being recalled are the new Kia Sorrento and also the Kia Borrego SUV. The scope of the cars being recalled is quite small with only Kia models imported into China from Sept 2009 to June 2010 this year being affected by the recalls.

Before we all get pro China against certain folks let remember that recalls are pretty common worldwide when manufacturers find defects that affect the lives and safety of consumers. Look on a positive side that Kia’s recall includes China.

In times past that may have NOT been the case.

So when it’s Kia, we should “look on a positive side that Kia’s recall includes China.”,and when it’s a Chinese company, we should criticize, bash, and look into all the negative aspects??

    啧啧,起亚。。

Ed, when a responsible Chinese car maker issues a recall then we can look at that a positive thing for the industry as well.

But at least treat them equally. I’ve never heard anyone say “we can look at that a positive thing for the industry” when there is news of a Chinese recall. No matter what company it is/was.

When Chinese manufacturers (not just auto) are more open about their recalls then the general public will see that as a positive thing.

Being Chinese wouldn’t you sleep better at night knowing that Chinese automakers found a fault with their cars and being responsible corporate citizens issued a recall.

In this case Dongfeng AND Kia are involved with the recall…. if it saves lives then how is that not a positive thing?

I never said it wasn’t a positive thing. But the only thing I’ve heard during Chinese recalls is criticism.
