Hong Qi HQE spotted out!

The Hong Qi HQE is the latest big limo from FAW and was the official car of Chairman Hu Jin Tao during the 2010 Reviewing of the Troops in Beijing where he shouted ‘Hello Comrades‘ and ‘You work hard, Comrades!’ from the top of his presidential ride, now that car is going to be produced for civilians also and will be sold openly to private buyers.

The Chinese media is reffering to the HQE as the ‘Chinese Rolls‘, and it certainly deserves its moniker. The above spy pictures show what seems to be a production ready model, and is somewhat different to the concept car that FAW unleashed earlier this year that was a mixture of traditional and modern styles.

Engine power will be derived from FAW’s own self developed 6.0L V12 engine, and is capable of 300Kw of power and 550Nm of torque. Hong Qi are also working on their Audi A6 killing sedan, which be a return to Hong Qi’s original mandate from Mao himself to build a luxury car fit for state leaders.

    This HQE only customers are bureaucrats who spend public money. If I were them, I would prefer an over-priced Audi A8L to get that kickback for pocket money. Oh wait, may be FAW can offer the same kickback as well…

    @hk
    Some business people in China can well afford this car as well. Not by using “public” money, of course.

  3. avatar korean_guy says:

    *sigh* “Hong Qi” sounds too much like HONKY. Another Chinese naming disaster!

  4. avatar santos palisander says:

    Ah yes, I see your point, but it’s also known as Red Flag, a brand that’s widely known outside of China, even by someone like me who is not an expert on Chinese cars. Someday, Red Flag could be a great export name for FAW if they used it correctly.

    How about coward??

    Sorry I forgot that Roh Moo-hyun already reserved that name.

    Hong Qi is 1000² times better than korean_guy .

    Don’t you Chinese have any respect? I Thought you Chinese knew better than to insult the dead. You Chinese stoop pretty low when you can’t fight back.

    Ed’s immature reply is better than your comment woxihuanpijiu.

    Are you nationalistic Koreans well aware of CCT? Where is the intimate knowledge of people they bash? woxihuanpijiu is not a Chinese, he is a foreigner ( Aussie I think ) working in China. If you know nothing, please keep your mouth shut.

    Don’t dish out racial slurs unless you can take them yourself. as hk mentioned I am not Chinese (not an aussie either but close enough) but I am white and “honky” is a racial slur against all white people….

    You talk about having respect but then you constantly bash China at every chance you get and not just here at CCT, most of your comments over at Chinahush are just purely racist with extremely colourful language. Could it be that you are just jealous of China because it has grown in social and economic ways your own country hasn’t? If you spent as much time focusing on issues in Korea then maybe the North and South could unify and Korea could move ahead.

    The constant bashing is fine though. In a way it shows the mainstream western media who use CCT as a source that some insecure Koreans are very afraid of the effect the booming Chinese car industry will have on their own industry in coming years.

  13. avatar Red Flag says:

    I thought this was about the Hong Qi HQE?? :-(

  14. avatar woxihuanpijiu says:

    Red Flag, sorry for any offense given. Personally I think we should be celebrating a Chinese V12 as a real step in the right direction of pure engine development. Personally I am a V8 person but a sweet sounding V12 makes nice music….. same as a burnout makes a sweet smell. 300kw (400hp) and 550nm is more than enough to pull a stump out of the ground and provide a massive burnout.

  15. avatar korean_guy says:

    @woxihuanpijiu

    I stand corrected!
    You sounded very Chinese by insulting the dead (changing the subject when cornered seems to be a route Chinese take often).

    Yes “HONKY” is a derogatory term for all whites and that’s why I mentioned it above: Chinese naming scheme is just a a joke whether they mean it or not, that was my point.

    And I don’t equate bashing China to bashing the dead so lets get that clear. Just because we “criticize” China doesn’t always mean it’s bashing, altho China would disagree, so lets just agree to disagree.
