CNCAP results in!
C-NCAP, the body responsible for crash testing cars in China has yet again treated us by smashing up several different cars and sharing the results with us. For those who believe that CNCAP is likely to be ‘bought’ by auto manufacturers will be upset to hear that in this round of crash tests neither Chinese nor Foreign auto maker faired terribly well, with all cars scoring three stars.
In total, C-NCAP used 6 car models and 18 cars in total to test these cars and spent just over 1.16 million RMB in cars.
1) The first car to meet its maker was the Haima 2, which scored a total of three stars and received 35.9 points
2) Dongfeng-Nissan’s Shuai Ke MPV was also awarded 3 stars and 34.4 points. This car was engineered by Nissan but came to Dongfeng when Nissan introduced the NV200 MPV
3) The Xiali N5 sedan scored 30.7 points and also three stars
4) Chang’ans Yue Xiang sedan scored 36.1, and three stars
5) Zhejiang UFO, a niche market producer of two SUV’s scored 31.7 points and three stars for their five door SUV. This is the one that ZAP plan to mass market as an electric car.
6) Lifan 620 scored 33.4 points and three stars, scoring very low for side impact in the chest area.
The tests were carried out in early September and followed the rules set aside in 2009, and will carry out further testing on emissions and consumption later this year to give the cars an improved standard.

This is really a very sad list, I am disappointed (Haima 2, Dongfeng Shuaike, Chang’an Yuexiang only 3 stars!!), I was hoping for improvement, from the independent Chinese car makers.
@erik van ingen schenau
It’s not Dongfeng Shuaike, It’s Dongfeng NISSAN Shuaike. The Shuaike is a Nissan model.
and the testing was done a year ago, in 2009.
To be exactly, Ed, the official name as written on the rear of the car is Dongfeng-Zhengzhou Nissan Shuaike. All Dongfengs made by Zhengzhou-Nissan are based on Nissan design, so I agree with yopu that it isn’t really a Chinese design.
The testing is done on July 22, 23 and 24 of 2010 according the C-NCAP site, so here you are wrong.
Ok, so did anybody get anything aside from 3 stars?
Sounds a little convenient, i.e. its rigged so nobody looks out of place. Or like they didn’t test out there procedures to find out if they worked properly, i.e. meaning ANY car will get around 30 odd points and get 3 stars.
That or its just sods law and the cars they chose just happened to be prity much the same?
@Vie
I’m pretty sure they didn’t rig it so that every car tested would get 3 stars…
