Guangzhou Auto has already done that by buying an Alfa Romeo platform and running gears but adding a Japanese skin and interior. FAW is the first to do that in its Besturn line, now is followed by Dongfeng. Are we going to see a flooding of outdated Japanese, Korean, Italian…models in so called domestic brands disguise? With the re-introduction of age-old Suzuki Alto, I am afraid we are getting there.

Much talk about names on the site lately, so here we go again. Dongfeng-Nissan has announced that the brand name for their new, lower priced line of cars will be Venucia (ven-ou-sha). Chinese name will be Qi Chen or Morning Star in English. Not really a bad name considering some of the others we have discussed.

On this account Venucia is not bad, pretty Italian similar to Lancia. However the logo is hopeless, the 5 stars resemble to the Chinese flag except in blue color.
