Roewe W5 SUV – the final pictures

Shots of a Roewe W5 SUV that looks like it is being dropped off at a Roewe dealership have been leaked to the internet. The W5 SUV appears to be packing the 1.8T engine that is shared with the Roewe 550, 750 and MG6 a 3.2 inline six engine from Ssangyong.  The W5 SUV is based on the Ssangyong Kyron platform which SAIC gained control of via their ownership of Ssangyong in 2008, which Roewe applied their own badges to for a 2011 market.

Pricing is expected to quite cheap at 170,000rmb to 220,000rmb when it is launched at the end of the year.

I don’t think it is exactly like the original, just a low-cost version, as the 750 model and the original. Even if licensed.

“is based on the Ssangyong Kyron platform”

Not based on, it just is a Ssangyong Kyron.

And still ugly of course. They should have used this opportunity to give it a thorough facelift, both Roewe and Ssangyong version.
