Dongfeng Luxgen’s first vehicle in rendered splendor?

Yesterday it was reported that Dongfeng and Luxgen are working together to introduce the Luxgen brand of vehicles into Mainland China, but it seems advanced plans for a Dongfeng-Luxgen designed SUV are in hand, of course these were leaked to the internet already:

On the power train side of things, it is believed that Dongfeng are developing the engine themselves, whilst the gearbox will be supplied by Japan’s Asin.

Other information on the SUV is unavailable but we will keep CCT readers updated.

  1. In the Chinese press it was announced that this is a SUV-Hybrid made by Dongfeng Liuzhou on the basis of the Futurer (Fengxing) Joyear (Jingyi), equipped with the 1500 cc engine of the Joyear.

Yes erik, you are absolutely right and I am sure you can read Chinese. CCT should brush up his Chinese and actually this SUV is what you talked about back in 30 June. There should be no relationship with Yulon Luxgen SUV, it is a lot bigger.

The mid-section is very strongly reminiscent of the Renault Scenic Mk. 2

Mark, you got a sharp eye!

Actually it is a reskin of the old Jingyi and Jingyi was based on Renault Scenic Mk2. Dongfeng borrowed it from Renault and gave a Mitsubishi MPV look. Now this new thing has a Lexus SUV look to keep it trendy, smart ah? There is not so ever any relationship with Taiwanese Luxgen.
