Hyundai Azera spotted out testing, likely China bound

2011 Hyundai Azera 500x291 300x174 Hyundai Azera spotted out testing, likely China boundHyundai’s upgraded all of its popular sedans – the Accent, Elantra and Sonata have gone through a sea of change in the recent past. Joining the bandwagon is the Hyundai Azera, which is based on the Sonata’s platform and is marginally wider and longer. The 2012 Azera will have Hyundai’s fluidic sculpture design language that has sheet metal dripping and flowing from bumper to bumper.

The older Azera, though sold in China in not many numbers, could catch up with this design update. The Chinese market welcomes big sedans with generous rear seat comfort. We see no reason why the new Azera could turn the tables for Hyundai in the large sedan market in China, although it will be in a strong market that is shared by Nissan’s Teana, Toyota’s Camry and Honda’s Accord.

Engine options are likely to be a V6 and 4 cylinder models for the Chinese market.

Good to see you guys have been busy the past week while the rest of the country has been partying over the holiday ;-) .

It’s great living in country that gives people a week off for National day (sort of).

This Azure should fit nicely as a replacement for all the Hyundai and Kia taxis when they need replacing. 95% of the south korea cars (excluding SUVs) in Guangzhou are taxis.

Degrading the thread to a stage when you are arguing about handbags is a bit feminine…… man up, grow some balls, buy a V8 and do some burnouts ya poofters.

n.b. still on holiday, will stop drinking tomorrow before I go back to work…

You are missing the point. That counterfeit handbag was about the quality expectations of both markets.

Koreans are extremely demanding quality wise and are willing to pay for quality, and this caused the quality of Korean goods to rise drastically, even counterfeit bags.
Chinese consumers don’t care about quality, so the quality of Chinese goods stay low, automobiles inclusive.

To say “Chinese automakers will eventually be like Korean automakers in 10 years, just wait and see” shows your ignnorance on this issue.

    “You are missing the point”.

I made my point pretty clear. There is no relevance between a copy handbag and the Hyundai Azure…. Which doesn’t look too bad imho.

If you really want to argue about handbags then this is not the most logical place to do it.

If you want to argue that Korean copies are better than Chinese ones are you simply implying that Koreans are non innovative and rely on copying high quality goods because they are incapable of making their own high end companies?

    As I said

    “As I said,

“man up, grow some balls, buy a V8 and do some burnouts ya poofters.”"

We’re not talking about handbags, we’re talking about production. The characteristics of ethnic groups do say a lot about how they view production and whether they are compelled to produce things in quality or not.

“…are you simply implying that Koreans are non innovative and rely on copying high quality goods because they are incapable of making their own high end companies?”

    NO!

    Is producing counterfeit ethical? NO!
Are there shady Korean who produce counterfeit? YES!

The point is however: even shady Koreans who participate in the unethical production of counterfeit goods, they produce them in high quality.

If history is any indication of future outcome it certain does not look for the Chinese that they will produce anything in quality.

    Never trust a Chinese!

korean_guy, can you think of something else other than playing the same old tune? Your negative views towards anything Chinese were expressed in CCT for many many times. Do you feel tired of that? Or your life is just for the sake of China-bashing?

Your hatered of communism is fully understood but present China is not a communist country anymore. The CCP is just by the name only, it should rename as Chinese Capitalist Party that is exactly what the Beijing government doing. When Deng replaced Mao, another new China was born till now. I think you nationalistic Korean will not bother to bash China if she remains in Mao-era state. This time it is a Deng’s new China and the table has turned. Wakeup, there are no commies anymore in China. Your mentality is still in the 60′s.

Now I have a better issue for you Koreans to worry. It is the Jet Plane business. Honda has already a corporate jet for the CEO and Mitsubishi has a short range commercial plane for the commuters. What happens to Hyundai? Do they have any plan? Don’t repeat the same story as in automotive industry. Mind you China has developed a short range commercial plane as well and production is underway.

Hyundai’s not in Jet business; they build tanks instead. It’s the government owned aerospace company that’s planning a 100 passenger regional jet. Earlier plan for a Korean jet in the 2000 didn’t make sense since such plane must be able to fly to the US and Europe non-stop, but the rise of China meant now there is now enough air travel to justify such a short-range regional jet.

But the problem is that this jet is being held back by KFX stealth fighter program, because Korea doesn’t have enough aerospace engineers to tackle on both projects and the stealth fighter is deemed to be more urgent to counter Chinese PLA threats in the event of a war following NK’s collapse. The plan is to finish the stealth fighter by 2021, then transfer components and technology developed for it over to the regional jet.

I couldn’t believe that you Koreans will spend your hard-earned foreign currency in military hardwares. Don’t worry, if there is war, Uncle Sam will take care of you. Korea will waste this kind of money to develop something that are not as good as the US stuffs. You think China will start a war against Korea? Why? Any reasons to make you have such illusion? Korea is mis-leaded by the American to share military burdens and that will consume your valuable resources. You better spend the money wisely in consumer products. By 2021, reginal commercial jets business will be dominated by the Japanese or the Chinese. There will be no more room left for Korean. Your government has made a very bad decision.

    > I couldnt believe that you Koreans will spend your hard-earned foreign currency in military hardwares.

You can thank China for that.

    > Dont worry, if there is war, Uncle Sam will take care of you.

The US’s present role is supportive, mostly a airforce reinforcement of around 300 combat aircraft and a naval reinforcement of two carrier battle groups, in the event of a war.

Second NK war is not expected to last more than 10 days; Pyongyang is expected to fall in four days and the first division would reach Yalu river in 7th day of war according to latest simulation.

It is the possibility of Chinese intervention that they are arming up for.

    > Korea will waste this kind of money to develop something that are not as good as the US stuffs.

The US won’t sell F-22 to Korea, so they got to make one themselves. Same story for Japan too.

    > You think China will start a war against Korea?

China is legally bound to automatically intervene by a security treaty.

    > Why?

Chinese don’t want to see a USAF base of Kadena size in Yalu-river, where hundreds of F-22 and F-35 fighters are fielded, able to reach Beijing in 40 minutes.

    > By 2021, reginal commercial jets business will be dominated by the Japanese or the Chinese.

The understanding is that Japanese airlines would buy Japanese planes, Chinese airlines Chinese planes, Korean airlines Korean airplanes.

    @IHC

    Quote from OPLAN 5027

“A favorable outcome for the South depends on two conditions. First, the ROK forces must withstand DPRK forces during the initial 5-15 days of North Koean offensive actions. Second, they must hold the line while US and ROK forces are mobilized for the counteroffensive, which could take another 15-20 days. ”

    http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/oplan-5027.htm

and quote from a report by Han Ho Suk, Director, Center for Korean Affairs.

“North Korea has not only the military power but also the political will to wage total war against the United States.”

Did you watch today’s parade in Pyongyang? Those missiles are just for showoff only without any military threat to Seoul. You better pay attention to those long range artillery, they can shower Seoul with countless shells from the border. There is no need to send a single soldier to cross the border. Your high-tech tanks and stealth jets will not protect Seoul. That is the reason why I said it is a waste of money in developing those stuffs. Maybe it is better to relocate the capital down south to the shore. How about that?
