Cadillac SLS to get 264BHP 2.0T engine!

cadillac SLS 300x225 Cadillac SLS to get 264BHP 2.0T engine! The Cadillac SLS is the only Cadillac to be made in China, although it is sold alongside the Escalade SUV and also CTS sedan and SLX SUV offerings.

The SLS was introduced into China in 2006 and has had small sales so far, partly due to the lack of advertising of the Cadillac brand and also due to the strength of the Germanic brands such as BMW and Audi who have practically cornered the market on long wheel base corporate sedans.

For 2011 or even 2012 GM are planning to fit the SLS with a 2.0T engine that appeared in the Buick Regal GS concept for the American market. This new 2.0T is not the same as the model used in the Chinese built Buick Regal or Lacrosse models, instead it appears to be an American built model (Chinese government data for the engine lists it as GM, rather than the usual Shanghai-GM), this 2.0T features direct injection which results in output of 264bhp and also 353Nm of torque, which makes for a powerhouse of a car.

GM’s introduction of this 2.0T powerhouse into the SLS will probably go someway into lowering the price of the SLS to make it more competitive against its competition, which is largely the Audi A4L, and A6L and also the BMW 5-series and Mercedes E-Class

I wonder what’s stopping them from producing the CTS here as well?
