First draft: Roewe 750 replacement rendering
As mentioned on China Car Times before, the Roewe 750 is due for replacement in a couple of years time. The 750 first came out in 2006 under the Roewe brand and has faired fairly well sales wise although sales have obviously dropped off in the last few months with added sedan competition from other brands. The new 750 is rumored to be riding on an all new platform from the GM stable, some have said Opel Insignia, some had said Buick Lacrosse platform but the truth is that neither have been confirmed and it could be that SAIC continues to use the existing platform to get maximum use out of its UK purchase.
Its also not clear what sort of engines it will be getting, there are strong rumors that the new 750 will make good use of the 2.0L and 2.4L engines from GM, there is no word on the 3.0L V6 that made it into the Lacrosse, or the 2.0T yet.

I find it hard to believe that Roewe would be so dependent on GM technology. SAIC are meant to have a range of new engines under development in Birmingham including large displacement.
If SAIC are just going to rehash GM tech then why did they bother to get the remnants of Rover and MG and develop engines, etc? The platform though might be another matter. It is usually rumoured to be based on the same platform as the LaCrosse but whether GM would be willing for this is unclear.
What about MG7 ?
