JAC working on double clutch gearbox
JAC are quickly establishing themselves as technological leaders in the Chinese market, they were rumored to be forced into a marriage with neighboring Chery, but this seems to have been shelved as JAC becomes quite a powerful car maker. JAC has turned itself around and has left its traditional roots as an MPV maker behind as it transformed into a small car manufacturer practically overnight and now rivals Chery and Geely in terms of design and engineering. JAC is now planning to develop its own dual clutch gearbox which will see it being used in B-segment cars. Development of the 7 speed dual clutch gearbox has apparently just begun, although JAC did show a concept at the 2007 Shanghai Auto Show, JAC are eagerly hiring anyone with engineering experience in the DSG area.
The gearbox has been codenamed JAC 6DCT (6 forward gears, one reverse) and will use hydraulic pressure wet type clutches and is expected to be used in AWD vehicle and also B, C and SRV segments.

Well capitalized by the Malaysian giant Lion Asiapac, Jianghuai got a good start in the automotive business its beginning in 1999.
It has gained a solid reputation for its manufacture of chassis’s and gearbox components for buses and trucks. Representative offices are found in Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Jinan and Zhengzhou. And so, unlike Changfeng, Jiangling, and Foton, who need Guanqi, Chang’an, and Beiqi respectively, it can easily stand on its own without Chery.
Here’s hoping they never merge, Dragin. It would be a disaster for JAC.
