MG6 sedan on sale from 127,800rmb to 189,800rmb
The MG6 sedan was only recently shown off at the Guangzhou Auto Show but SAIC are not being slack about moving it into the dealerships ASAP to give MG’s sales a much needed boost. Whilst the MG6 sedan is just a Roewe 550 with a bout of rhinoplasty its clear that the MG6 sedan is going to top the sales charts in the coming months. MG dealers are apparently already in the process of taking deposits for the sedan and prices are going to be on par with the MG6 fastback. The sedan will range from 127,800rmb to 189,800rmb and will of course be packing a 1.8DVVT engine and a 1.8T unit.
At the Guangzhou Auto Show, the MG6 sedan was certainly one of the highlights and outshone the MG3. The MG6 sedan will no doubt be a popular model in China, whilst the MG3 will gain its fame in the EU market.
Be sure to check out our MG6 gallery from the Guangzhou Auto Show.

Can you advise if the new MG and Roewe range of cars are going to be sold in Australia and how soon?
I am the owner of a 2001 Rover 75 and I am looking to update.
Cheers
Official reply is they have no current plans for Australia. Doesn’t make much sense considering they have a growing range of cars with RHD available.
This is MG, what can you expect? Last I saw on their Facebook page they had Bobby Davro hawking cars.
Agreed. At the moment they are probably producing the best Chinese cars but they are at risk of losing their early lead. They should be able to produce go from Roewe to MG much faster and also introduce them overseas much faster.
I would say it is a case of all in good time. When they have a full product range they will look to expand to high margin markets closer to home, like Japan, Australia and New Zealand. I would suggest that these markets will go hand in hand, as they will all have the same specifications in order to meet local rules. A Japanese car will automatically meet Australian and New Zealand standards, whereas a European car will not without some degree of changes, so it’s not just a case of shipping the UK versions to RHD markets.
I know a lot of Authorised Rover /MG Dealers got their hands burnt with the demise of the Rover/MG franchise and they will find it hard to find some one to take the Dealership on. In the Rover Car Club of Victoria we have a very strong following of people that own Rover 75′s and a couple of MG ZT’s. We get new 75 members every month. In the interim I have sold my 75 and just bought a 2005 MG ZT 180 with 56000 kms on it. The car is still looking like new. Annette and I are now looking forward to life with a ZT. If the MG6 does come to Australia in a couple of years we should be able to trade to a MG6. Graeme
